## Description

Product Description In the process of developing our line of Carson special forces G10 M16 models, it became apparent that there was a demand for these models from coalition forces serving in desert environments. These models have Desert Tan blade and scales. The M16-14DSFG Big Dog G10 is our hefty utility version, with a 3.875" (98 mm) dual grind Tanto blade and full-size handle with butt pommel. It weighs 5.9 oz. (167 g). Just like its black tactical counterpart, this knife shares a unique design offering a combination of Carson SF series features requested by military procurement specialists. It has a combined Razor-Sharp and patented (1) Veff Serrated edge. The open build allows two Carson Flippers to be incorporated, resulting in a true hilt— up to now rare in folding knives. Blade and scales are non-reflective Desert Tan. The premium 8Cr14MoV stainless steel blade receives a titanium nitride coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Kit's trademark dual checkered thumb studs are standard. One-hand opening and closing is quick and smooth. The open InterFrame build uses Desert Tan scales of G10, and stainless steel liners with friction grooves. G10 is often preferred for its aggressive gripping texture, light weight, and the insulating properties which make it cooler in heat and warmer in cold than metal. It also features our automated liner safety. Automated liner safety is the locking liner safety innovation taken to the next level. The automated liner safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use. To close the knife, pull the red buttoned safety lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. Want one of the most secure safety systems on the market? The choice is automatic. All knives in this series are equipped with clip options that allow four-position carry on belts or webbing— tip up, tip down, left or right. (Caution: These knives are not designed for tip-up in-pocket carry.) They are special knives, designed by the military for special forces desert use.Specifications:Blade Length: 3.95" (100.41 mm)Edge: Veff Serrations™Steel: 1.4116Blade Finish: Titanium NitrideBlade Thickness: 0.14" (3.58 mm)Grind: HollowClosed Length: 5.34" (135.61 mm)Open Length: 9.31" (236.55 mm)Weight: 6.5 oz (184.27g)Handle: G10Style: Folding Knife with Liner Lock From the Manufacturer M16-14DSFG Special Forces Big Dog G10 made by Columbia River Knife & Tool is a 3.875-Inch Tanto blade combo edge knife. Review: Good knife - Really nice knife and feels big, weighty, and solid, no blade play at all and I like the double locking system, its easy to disengage one handed. The veff serrations cut really well and I find myself using them more than the rest of the blade. The coating gets dirty very easily but looks very nice, the knife feels very strong and can definitely handle being beat and the blade deploys quickly but maybe just flick your wrist with it a little when opening. Mine came used and had a beat box with what looked like blood on the inside but that was just one so good knife:) heres a picture of it next to my very used CRKT M16-01KS
Review: CRKT M16-14DSFG 8 years in. - I've had two of these. The first one I left on a bed rail of my truck, it went through not one but two trailer tires. So I would definitely say it's rather stabby, however it didn't survive it's passage through the tires. Can't blame it would I not have had either. The second I've had for 8 years. It's a great knife, BUT for EDC it's got drawbacks. First is it's big. Where I work I cut down boxes and such every day. Everytime it comes out with a new employees around they definitely will pre judge you. They will be thinking you are at work swinging a sword around for your own personal gas station themed anime. The KISS system stopped working ages ago, but that is only a backup to the internal blade lock so no biggie. I had some issues with the bearings slowing up and CRKT immediately and free of charge sent me new ones. This thing is an absolute nightmare to sharpen the serrations and blade, but the steel is so good that no exaggeration I've only sharpened it probably 5 times in 8 years. 2 of them done while drunk so I did more harm than good. Knife today opens smoothly and without issue. I have big hands but this handle is really long, wish they would have used some of that length for a glass breaker or maybe and drink umbrella holder. Just throw that bad boy tip first into your Mai Thai and if a box or some packing material gets mouthy... Well you know. Last drawback is the two protrusions that are used to open the blade and to keep your hand from sliding up the blade are kind of sharp to the sides. Not even needed really on one side, but they will wear your jeans if you're like me, or god help you if you're a lady your pantyhose, sweat pants, yoga pants. I know I've been a bit comedic here, but this is a tough, very nice knife. Don't even hesitate to get one you won't be disappointed. I just wanted to share some of the realities of owning this.
