Any Angle Straw Sippy Cup, Spill Proof, 7 Ounce, Blue

A lot of reviews I’ve read seem to be user error. My 12 month old drinks from this cup very easily in almost any position and loves it. And after figuring out a few things, I think it is nearly perfect. Let’s clear up a few things other reviews have complained about, so you will love your new cup too. 1. It leaks/bubbles out cold liquid when taken out of the fridge. -This is not a design flaw but just a physics reaction. Yes, if you take the cup from the fridge to room temp, the cold air inside the cup expands as it warms pushing out a bit of liquid from the straw. Very simple solution is to simply unscrew the top for a minute (maybe less!) so that as the air expands in room temp, and liquid isn’t pushed up and out of the straw. Seriously, try it. Very simple solution once you realize why it is happening. 2. The valve in the straw make is very difficult to drink out of. -I thought this at first as well. Please do not cut the valve out as other reviews have suggested. The valve is meant to be compressed from front to back (top to bottom) as toddler is drinking, and once compressed slightly, offers nearly no resistance to drinking. When not compressed, keeps your cup leak proof. 3. Difficult to clean. -You can also compress this valve front to back, to insert cleaning brush provided and to allow water to rinse through it easily while cleaning. Knowing how to use the valve makes cleaning very simple. 4. Not leak proof when turned upside down. -I think this has to do with improper straw and stopper placement. You must pull the straw through until it clicks into place and make sure the stopper connected to the straw is firmly placed over the air hole at the top of the lid. Then, no matter how my toddler carries it around, it never leaks when upside down. Also, make sure the lid is screwed on until the handles click over the bumps on the side to lock it on. It is easy to not screw the top on enough if you don’t know it needs to click in place to lock. I’m sure a few cup will be made with defects and this won’t fix everyone’s problems, but I think a bit more knowledge of how to use the cup properly would solve most of the complaints listed about the cup. User error seems to be the biggest problem with these cups. The only minor draw back I’ve noticed is occasionally getting flicked with liquid when my son finishes drinking and flicks the straw out of his mouth at me. But I think that will get better with time. *Please don’t let the negative reviews keep you from buying and loving this cup. Just take a minute to learn how to use it to its best potential and I think you will love this cup too!

I bought this cup for my daughter when she began her transition away from a bottle around 11 months. There are some things to note about this cup so that it functions properly. First, the straw was really hard to suck through when I first tested it. However, YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THE DISPOSABLE PLASTIC COVER IS REMOVE FROM THE WEIGHT AT THE END OF THE STRAW BEFORE FIRST USE. Also, it helps if you roll the top of the straw where the valve is through your fingers a couple times to initially open the valve before first use. This is also suggested in the instructions that come with the cup and I think some people who left bad reviews about the slow flow of the straw may have not done one or both of these things. I myself did not do either before trying the cup the first time and I also thought it was impossible to pull through. Second, THIS CUP DOES LEAK A SMALL AMOUNT. The valve that keeps the milk from coming up from the straw is about an inch and half below the top. This means that any milk that is in the straw above this valve will leak when the cup is tipped over, thrown, or if the straw is flicked such as when you open the cup after closing it with milk in the straw. THERE IS AN EASY FIX FOR THIS. After your child is done drinking and before the cup is thrown or closed roll the top of the straw through your fingers, so that the milk above the valve can go back down. OTHER THAN THIS I HAVE NOT HAD ANY LEAKS WHEN THE CUP IS PROPERLY CLOSED. Third, I ended up ordering 4 of these cups for my daughter to use daily for the milk we send with her meals to daycare. Somehow, I received cups from two different batches or from two different manufacturers and the tops of two do not fit the other two and vice versa. This led to the cups significantly leaking from around the rim and I thought at first, they had warped in the dishwasher. IF YOUR CUPS ARE LEAKING AROUND THE RIM, PLEASE CHECK THE PRODUCT NUMBER ON THE LID AND CUP TO SEE IF THEY MATCH EACH OTHER. Apparently, Munchkin uses more than one manufacturer, and the products are not exactly identical. This is a little annoying, but I can live with it because overall the cups work really great for my daughter. The weights straw works great, and she has even leaned all the way upside down and still been able to drink. The straw is awesome verses a sippy cup because it is actually helping to strengthen the muscles, she will use later for talking. And the handles on the side allowed her to immediately be able to drink independently without any trouble at age 11 months. OVERALL, THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT. I HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING BETTER SO FAR!!!!

I bought two of these weighted sippy cups- one for my 3y/o son and one for my 1y/o daughter. My son had been using this Thomas The Train hard-spout sippy cup like, forever and a day. He was hooked on this one specific cup, like I had nightmares about him loosing it! And then the day came that his speech therapist said he needed to switch to a straw-cup (to help strengthen his mouth/face muscles). I bought a variety of straw-type sippy cups and hurled each one at him, hoping one would stick (FIGURATIVELY. Gosh... I would never want to throw anything at my sweet little darling) Eventually, he settled on one... no, not this one here. Another one. But, that one leaked everywhere. And then- the biggest problem- he would throw a darn tantrum every darn day because he couldn't get that last little bit of milk (actually the last 1/3 of the cup of milk) up through the straw while laying down because... gravity. So, I discovered these weighted-straw miracles while shopping in a Rite Aid for over-priced baby nail clippers. Oh, was I delighted! Until I saw the price- $8.99 +sales tax = no-way-jose! So, being the thrify-nifty Mama that I am, I quicky looked these puppies up here on Amazon, and they were only about $5 each... plus, being a shpeshall Prime member meant no shipping costs & I could have this new fangled invention all up in my toddlers face tomorrow. So, I bought two because I try to learn from my past missteps. We got it the very next day. My son was thrilled to be able to lay down a drink all of the milk without the torture & struggle of non-weighted-straw cups. I was relieved to not have to deal with trying to explain gravity to an almost-3-year-old. So the highlight is obviously the weighted straw part. The straw itself is a nice soft & flexible yet durable plastic-y material, and it has the "leak-proof" thing inside the straw (you know, where it needs a bit of pressure to allow the liquid to flow through it). The lid has 2 side handles that make a click to let you know that it is closed good & tight, and uses a sliding mechanism on top to open/close the straw (pop-up type). The lid also comes in some nice bright colors- I got green for my son and pink for my daughter. The cup is clear and rather small... I think this could hold 6oz, but the straw & weight take up room, really it's just a bit under 6oz. I thought these were going to be a pain to clean, but low and behold, it comes with a teeny tiny straw scrubber brush! Fantastic! And now, what I didn't really like: The spill-proof thing inside the straw becomes wide-open after so many washes with the straw scrubber brush and not-so-spill-proof... in fact, my son has given himself & his baby sister a milk shower several times. This week. I also noticed that the other part of the straw that connects inside the lid (which also has some kind of spill-stopping magic powers apparently... I'm sorry I obviously don't know the proper terminology for sipping cup anatomy) eventually becomes loose too. My son has long-ago discovered that if he shakes his sippy cup hard enough, that spill-proof part inside comes loose and he can make it rain milk (yes, my son drinks milk exclusively). This eventually happens with any and all "spill-proof" sippy cups. But the straw becoming damaged from cleaning just makes it worse. Since my daughter never used her cup, I swapped the straws out after a month. Now it's been another month and I am just careful when I scrub that section inside the straw now and it's still holding up. I really liked the clicking of the lid closing, but after opening & closing so many times, the click isn't really noticable. This brings me to my issue of the size of the cup- it's too small for my kids! Seriously both of my kids act like they are going to pass out from dehydration if they don't have their cups filled with milk at all times. This means I'm constantly rinsing/washing/refilling this little cup all day long. It's cray. But this may be just a problem for my kids and might not be an issue for yours. Overall, I do really like these cups. They are perfect for little ones who like to lay back and have a drank. My son has thrown these cups at hardwood, concrete/cement, asphalt, brick walls/pathways, gravel, and marble and they have held up thus far... many many scratches & scuffs but not a single crack! Bravo! If you decide to buy one of these don't be like me and get carried away with excitement from the tiny straw scrubber brush; gently scrub the top half of the straw where the spill-proof whatever-you-call-it is and it should last you a lifetime... I'm just kidding, it will probably get you 6 months before you're taking milk showers.

Our 7m old loves these and the munchkin no spill cups. They don’t leak and are great for on the go! They’re super easy to clean and cute/durable. He can’t open the top on his own yet, but can drink out of it without help.

My son was never excited about drinking plain water, but this cup surprisingly changed that. I think the weighted straw made it much easier for him to drink from any angle, so he started reaching for it on his own throughout the day. It’s truly spill-proof, even after being tossed around in the stroller and diaper bag. The 7 oz size is perfect for little hands, it’s easy to clean, and it’s held up really well with daily use. Definitely one of our favorite sippy cups.

My 20-month-old triplets use different straw cups during the day, but for their milk before bed we use these. After 14 months of using them (in addition to a ton of other types of straw cups) and since we own 15 of the cups, I am an expert on these. First the good - -The weight makes the straw stay in the liquid, even if the child is reclined. When babies are learning to drink from them and tip the cups sideways or even upside down, they still work. -They are fairly easy to drink from - there are many reviews saying people's kids (or even adults) have trouble drinking from them, but that has not been our experience. We've had many straw cups that are harder. -They have handles. -They have a lid to keep the straw clean and prevent spillage - I guess it's a nice touch, but in our house it was just another thing to clean, plus the kids would close the lid and freak out that they couldn't drink so we took all the lids off and shoved them in the back of a drawer, never to be seen again. Still, for some people it might be crucial to using this cup on the go. -The kids like them. For whatever reason, they drink more milk from these cups than they do from other cups, which is the only reason they're still around. Okay, the bad - -Liquid bubbles out the straw, especially if the liquid is cold when you put it in. As it warms, the pressure builds in the cup and the liquid is forced out. This means that even a cup sitting upright will often develop a pool of liquid around it and if the cup is on its side, it will leak a lot. (They have tried to address this issue with an update to the cup which I'll discuss later in this review.) -Pressure builds up if your kid never takes his mouth off the straw, making it harder and harder to drink. It's easy to release the pressure by squeezing the straw, but you have to get it out of your kid's mouth first. (This is another issue they tried to resolve in the update discussed below.) -They are a pain in the butt to clean. Mainly this is because of the flexible straw. They include a tiny brush to push through the straw, which you have to do, a dishwasher will not properly clean these straws. In addition to being time consuming, if you're not careful you run the risk of poking the brush through the side of the straw and making a hole. There are also two small nubs just below the threading for the lid on top of the places where you can see that the cup flares. The purpose of these nubs is to click when the lid is on properly, letting you know it's on right. But why they didn't make these nubs solid is beyond me because milk/juice/etc can get into these nubs and get gross. I didn't notice at first that they weren't getting clean - you have to really pay attention when using a bottle brush because of the angle. It's just an added annoyance. -On some of the cups the straw is looser than others. This means that on some of them the kids can poke the straw down into the cup, creating a hold through which they gleefully pour their drink onto the floor. Only some of the cups are like this, which is odd. You might have noticed I wrote quite a bit more in the bad section than the good, so why do we still use them? Well, most straw cups we've tried are sadly worse. The kids like these, they're used to them, and we have a lot so we'd have to invest money into switching. We're basically just trying to stick it out until they're old enough to do better with a plain old cup with a straw in it. Okay, as promised, a word on the update to these cups. Recently they released this cup with a valve in the lid. It is achieved by making a hold in the lid and adding a valve to a flap on the straw, which pops over the hold inside the cup. This - in theory - should prevent the vacuum problem when a kid keeps his mouth on the straw and should allow pressure to equilibrate so the cups don't bubble liquid out the straw. I'm not sure why this didn't occur to them earlier, like when they first designed the cup, but it's out now. Even though we had 12 of the old style, we bought 3 more to try the new style out. And... they weren't the panacea I'd been hoping for. The milk still bubbled out the straw, though not as much. It adds an extra little step to cleaning. The kids, for some reason I can't put my finger on, seem to have more trouble drinking from the newer cups. And one time my son managed to poke on the straw enough that the valve came off the hole in the lid, leading to gleeful shaking of milk into his lap. So it might be an improved design, but it's certainly not a reason to replace all the cups we have and many of the negatives still apply. So in summary - There are a lot of little issues with this cup, but the bottom line is that the kids like them and use them well. We all know that keeping the kids happy is key so until they seem equally happy with a different cup, we'll keep using these, albeit grudgingly.

So far so good! They go through a lot of abuse so if they leak it doesn’t really bug me. Easy to grab and learn to drink but a little difficult to clean especially when the straw cleaner is tied in a knot for shipment, it doesn’t straighten at all.

My granddaughter loves these. They don’t spill or leak and she tips them all crazy and still gets drinks. They come with the straw cleaner that goes alllll the way through so you don’t have to worry about build up. Very happy with these!

Best straw bottle and loving it! Lightweight but good quality; able to withstand daily throwing by my 1-year-old. Easy to wash and no issues with mold (kept getting mold for pigeon sippy straw bottle). Recently started using a 2nd bottle for fresh milk at infant care (he rejects milk bottles) and he had no transition problem taking milk from it. Thumbs up!

Im a big fan of muchkin products and this one is another big hit. My bb loves drinking from it. He is a little biter and nibbles on the straw often but till now no damage to it. He throws it almost everyday and still no crack or chip. Its a very good quality product like all other Muchkin products

Mio figlio butta tutto per terra ma con questa non è riuscito a fare il solito lago. Riesce a bere anche da solo molto facilmente. La trovo molto pratica socialmente per quando siamo fuori casa!

Love these cups! We now have two. They do occasionally leak, but not often. We love that our baby can get milk from nearly any direction she holds the cups thanks to the weighted straw, and she adjusted to the straw very quickly. Handles are easy for her to grab as well, which has made this a great starter cup after bottles. Only complaint is that the straw is time-consuming to clean, and needs to be washed frequently if you use anything besides water in the cup.
