My dog is getting a little older, so hip arthritis is a concern with her and I just added about 6 inches of topper to my mattress so we needed a leg up. And I'm sorry, I dont care for the look of those itty bitty doggy stools. This one matched my bedroom decor nicely and is easy for her bigger frame to maneuver than little stairs. And let's my turdlers climb in bed with us in the middle of the night. LolDirections were straight forward and it was very easy to put together. I had no damage to any pieces, extra screws were sent in the package, and the nicest thing was that the screws were long enough to catch the steps nicely so they don't feel weak or wobbly at all. I especially like that the feet come with little non scratch pads since we have wood floors in our bedroom. My boys have jumped on the steps and they don't budge under them.
