This versatile kennel can be used for sleeping, housebreaking or potty-training, reducing unwanted behaviors like chewing and barking, or as needed to contain pets when guests are over. It will quickly become your pet's personal haven, at home and away. For maximum pet comfort, select a unit 4" to 6" longer than the dog's body length and 4" to 6" taller than its shoulder height. If the animal is not fully grown, please consult a breed chart to approximate the dog's future adult size, and choose a cage accordingly. Our premium crates and pens are used by professional breeders, handlers, and everyday pet owners worldwide. Please note: cages are designed to hold well-trained pets. Even the strongest crates can't contain wild or rowdy animals, therefore all pets should be properly trained to use the cage, and/or care should be taken to ensure animals do not break free and hurt themselves or others. This is especially important when first introducing your pet to the crate, as they may not be used to being confined.SmithBuilt is an industry leader for pet products and accessories, known for providing exceptional quality at a great value.

Depends on your dog
I am giving this crate a low rating because it does not appear to be a strong gage to withstand dogs that don't want to be crated. If you want a light crate to travel with or have a dog that loves their crate, then I would give this crate a 4-star. My 1-star is based on my experience: We borrowed this crate to foster a greyhound. He did not like being in his crate and in one hour of us being gone he damaged the crate so much that we had to buy this replacement of the exact same crate for them. A crate should be strong enough to withstand (to a reasonable degree) dogs trying to get out. We went to the store and bought a Petco crate and it instantly felt sturdier. The foster dog was not able to bend or damage it. If your dog doesn't mind being in their cage, then it is not a big deal and this would be a good price, but if they try to get out at all, they will likely be able to damage it and get out.

Only Crate with a Metal Bottom. Perfect Choice for Dogs that Like to Chew.
Love this dog crate/kennel. It is difficult to find a dog kennel with a metal bottom. Most are made with plastic bottoms. No matter how strong the plastic bottoms seem, there is always a dog at the dog rescue that can tear it apart. This problem disappeared with the metal bottom. By placing a blanket over the bottom of the crate, the metal bottom will not become too hot or cold. Used indoors, this is never a problem to begin with. If you have an active chewer or want a crate/kennel with a terrific bottom that will not break, this is the dog cage you should get. I believe the dog kennel is available in various sizes. This is the ONLY dog kennel on Amazon with a metal bottom--I checked.

No thanks
I got this as the cheapest crate that comes around 24'' the longest side. Do not waste your money unless you're on a tight budget! I had purchased a bigger one from this brand before and it seemed a little flimsy compared to another brand but I didn't have it long before replacing the dog and also the crate. Getting this in a smaller size, the metal pan is about 3/4in too small one way. I have it for an older dog with longer curved nails because he used to be a kennel dog and he is destined to get his nails hooked and toes trapped in between the metal bars and the pan! He will need a crate liner while I house break him. thanks. Its not even wide at all he has to sleep one direction while in that crate! I don't see why they build so narrow.

My dog RIPPED IT APART. Got a refund.
I'm sure if you have a normal dog without anxiety it will be fine for you...but we seem to have a HE-MAN of a dog who busted through the cage not once, not twice, but three times. And on the third time he destroyed and bent the frame as well as pulling the flimsy wiring apart and cut his mouth all open. Like I said, if your dog is okay being in a crate for periods of time by himself, this crate is a great money saver. BUT, if your dog has anxiety and is pretty strong DO NOT PURCHASE. Spend the money on the heavy duty metal cage..UPDATE: Company did issue a full refund which I am grateful for. Customer service was very polite and understanding.

... for a rabbit which is unlikely to attempt escape like a dog would
An ok cage for a rabbit which is unlikely to attempt escape like a dog would. It is easy to unfold and set up, but the clips that support the walls don't hook on very tightly. I am also confused why the tray is at least an inch too short for the bottom of the cage!UPDATE:Less than six months later and the tray has rusted along one edge so that a large piece has broken off leaving a jagged edge. Now I have to buy a replacement tray! The bars under that part of the tray are also badly rusted. It would have been cheaper in the long run to buy a more expensive better-built cage.

Terrible product, Piece of JUNK!!!!!!!! Poor Customer Service as well
Terrible product. Not sturdy at all. It will not stay together there is any movement in the crate. My 50lb dog was able to move the sides of the crate and the door collapsed on him. The only reason I ordered this was for the metal tray pan at the bottom, which is good but the actual crate that keeps your animal in it is a piece of junk. The seller knows it is a terrible product but still sells it. I tried to return the crate since it was not at all what the description says it is and they told me return shipping would be at my own expense, which would cost about half or more of what my actual refund is.DO NOT BUY THIS CRATE. YOU WILL REGRET IT. There are way better crates on amazon for around the same price.

Not meant for dog who doesn't like to be crated
I purchased because my 7 year old Husky is allergic to plastic. He does not like being crated. The first night he had the wires on the door bent, by the third night he had a wire from the door broken off and by the seventh night he had the end panel with door completely broken off. If your dog doesn't mind being crated, this would be a good purchase.Fortunately, I will be able to reuse the metal tray that came with it in a much sturdier crate that came with a plastic tray.Vendor shipped quickly and it arrived on the first day of delivery spread.

My 8 month old ginormous puppy broke out in 24 hours
I purchased this crate thinking the metal tray was a good idea -- since my puppy ate the plastic one in his old crate, however, this crate has no "hooking" action on the latches so he was able to just slide the doors open. Then once we clipped them with carbineers he dug at the bottom until he bent the cage and broke two rungs off of it so now it is dangerous--this is after less than 2 weeks of use.
