Pectus Carinatum Orthosis

This thing hurts and is impossible to fit comfortably around one's chest. Waste of money, get a brace custom designed by someone who knows what they're doing.

My son got a pectus brace through the hospital. It cost an arm and a leg, and wasn't covered by insurance. I was no impressed by what it was or now it was made even if it was custom fit. After a few days of compression it wouldn't stay on without caving his chest in, and was difficult for him to sleep with it on. So I dug around till I found this one and figured it was worth trying. I WISH I had found this one first and was brave enough to start with it instead. My son was so much happier with this brace. He sleeps with it without any issues. It has not caused any caving in from over compression. It fits smoother under his shirt, and it stays in place even during a lot of activity. Definitely worth the money.

No for kids . Too big and hard to use .

This was purchased for someone I care for on the advice of a physician. It does seem to be doing its job, however, by the laws of physics, there is equal pressure exerted posteriorly as there is anteriorly. This means that while there is pressure that is correcting the pectus deformity at the sternum, there is also localized pressure on the spinal column. This caused some spinal changes and back pain. I've modified the brace by adding a much wider posterior plate and padded it more. Hopefully this will help solve the problem. The design needs improvement. However, this much less expensive than most of your options out there and very good bang for the buck.

This is a great item! My 11 years old uses it for pigeon chest. The doctor said this is the cheapest option among the $3.000 and the $1.200 custome made ones. We are glad that we chose this option since this device is adjustable for his skinny chest and it helps even though he is not wearing it for the recommended amount of time. Be careful though that do not wear it on bare skin only on undershirt or T-shirt otherwise it irritates the skin.

Works great. Need an allen wrench for adjustments. I have no idea why I wrote a 4 instead of a 5. I guess I'm skeptical that it will work.I paid more than $1,000 for the doctor's office to make a custom fit for my other son a few years ago. Well, kids grow. The custom one is not adjustable. It dug into him and I had to put a pad under the hard plastic edges. It was a ridiculous waste of money. This thing seems better, more comfortable, is less noticeable under a shirt. Much better all around.

So much cheaper than what we would have paid, even with insurance!

It seems to be working...my son has been using it for a couple of months. He’s 13 and has been very self conscious of his pigeon chest. The Dr recommended buying a brace. My son isn’t super consistent at wearing it as much as he should but it has already made a slight difference. But it’s easy for him to put on and take off himself.
