Cartell CP-4 Smart Driveway Free Exit Wand Sensor System with 100' Foot Cable for Gate Openers

Works like a charm after replacement of the old one.

We have a long driveway with double gates, and the original exit sensor has been problematic for years, frequently trapping drivers in while they would drive back and forth to trigger the gate. We replaced it with this sensor, and the improvement was beyond expectations. The length of the wire allowed us to position the sensor farther from the gate and the sensor is far more sensitive even on the 'out of the box' setting. Since installing this exit sensor, we have not had a single issue with exiting vehicles and no false openings. Was easy to install, just needed to confirm the settings for default position for either closed or open position. Highly recommend.

I can’t say enough great things about this product. I was thrilled with it from the moment I installed it. Rented a trencher and had it installed within a few hours according to the detailed instructions included. This is a three-year review. This has worked flawlessly ever since installation. Looking forward to many years of continued use. Also, the customer support is awesome. No I didn’t need them, but I did reach out to them shortly after purchase and told them how grateful I was for their team producing such a quality product. They were very receptive and excited to hear my feedback. I think of them often as I exit my driveway.

Tried 2 cheaper ones that quit working after 2 weeks. This unit has been great and detects every vehicle. More expensive than other units but worth the price.

Easy install and a real time saver.

This unit was a replacement. The first unit had a defect in the outer housing. The unit detected properly, but with the leak, it stopped working within 2 weeks. The new unit that the seller replaced the old one with worked as intended. The range isn't quite as far as is indicated (could be due to the material by the driveway).

Quick delivery. Worked as expected. ...This is actually the second Cartell CP-4 purchased. The first one lasted until just after the 5 year warranty expired. So they are likely only good for 5 years.

The unit works just like the tube style Cartel CP3 and EMX branded comparable units. I noticed no difference between this one based on experience with the older style units. The unit has a sensitivity adjustment inside the direct burial housing if you need to turn it down or up. It is set on high from the factor. I believe I read the warranty is voided if you don't run it in conduit. 1/2" PVC conduit is the size that the receiver unit accepts without requiring any adapters couplings. I also liked that the wire was not as tacky as the older Cartel CP units wiring. The old wire would kinda stick together and get in a tangled mess when initially laying out. This wire outer coating is much nicer and easier to manage. The unit does not have the alum shielding wrap which can be cumbersome when splicing or cutting it shorter. This is another plus for me. Unit works well and will hopefully be as reliable as the prior CARTEL and EMX units used in the past. I recommend conduit burial. This will make replacement of the units much easier if you remember the approximate bury location you can simply fish the new unit wire back to the operator box and not worry about the trenching aspect. Is it worth the $80 to $100 extra in conduit. In my opinion it was and will make a subsequent repair much less labor intensive. Good luck.
