Mini Ultra Filter Media… (5 LBS)

I have been using plastic w/ foam ball media for sometime, but recently set up a new 125g and was looking for a change to something better. I caught a review of this product on You Tube where they looked at various absorbency/permeability of several bio medias. The regular size Biohome Ultra outperformed all others, by a significant margin. The only downside was the size of the regular Biohome Ultra, which might be difficult to fit into my HOB filter. Then I found this- the same Ultra Biohome, but in mini. I decided to give it a try. I have been running the Biohome mini Ultra now for about two months. It cycled quick using a mix of existing media and a sponge filter. My water seems to be more resilient, but it is a new tank and the bio load is not terribly high yet. The media seems to be durable as well and Im hopeful it will last for years. The cost is high compared to others on the market, but if this media saves water changes and keeps my nitrates/nitrites at zero, its well worth it. I plan to add more tanks with Biohome mini ultra, as well as add to the media in the 125g. Will update here with any negative, but none yet, other than the higher than average cost

It arrived with very little broken pieces in the bag. It’s a really good product and you can get a little nitrate reduction if you’re lucky too.

I put this filter media in my ancient Fluval 205 on a 28 gallon tank with more fish than I really ought to have and my tank stabilized in a week, then gave perfect results in 2 weeks. I watched a video with the Pondguru "pimping" a Fluval 206 filter and basically did the same thing to my 205. The results speak for themselves. I have 7 Angelfish from small to large and a clown plecostimus all in this tank (yes, I know, too many fish, but I'll fix that soon enough) and the filter is working perfectly to keep ammonia at zero, nitrites at zero, and nitrates about 10 ppm. I could not be happier with these results!

It really works .It takes about two weeks. And once it's established it helps keep your ammonia, nitrite at 0 .I have a 45 gal tank. 1 pack is enough. I recommend this product

I didn't get a full pound it was 4oz short and there were no bacteria starter balls ...

I like the course feeling these and they keep my tank water perimeters on point. The only drawback is that for the amount that i bought was too expensive

I’m so glad I decided to get this media for my fish tank. So much better than just the usual media.

1 pound isn't that much of this stuff at all. It's heavier than it looks. Barely enough to fill half of the basket in my penn plaxx 1500. A lot of money for a half basket of media. I still put 5 stars cuz it is one pound as described.
