Wellco Men's Hot Weather Jungle Boot

These are some of the best boots I've found for use in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota. They have great ankle support for the rough terrain and tough leather surrounding the ankle to help protect for the sharp rocks. The drains help to quickly drain away the water so that your feet are soaking in water all day in the canoe. Don't go with a cheap knock off brand of jungle boots, go with Wellco and they'll last you a long time.

I bought these for my son for his BSA camping trip in Canada. He said they worked great. they fit as sized and made the hiking and canoeing easy. some of the boys had opted for the cheaper, foreign made boots. Don't waste your money. their boots starting falling apart after the second portage. These boots are really not that expensive and will hold up. Well worth the money.

it just wasn't the correct size, but its of good quality

Got a pair made in Dominican Republic, should have chosen the cheaper "Imported" ones. So far so good on first use.

I recived the boots and left boot looks exactly like the pictures but rigth boots not, have diferents insteep drain vents, and inperfect construction (these looks like were from diferents pairs), this are cosmetics details but I await a normal product not seconds or imperfect, If description, tell that, I have not problem. These are my third pair of wellco, and they are great boots, I want to be clear about this point the problem is product description, not trade mark. Now I'm too long, any return are more expensive by the shipping than buy another pair

I'm writing this review as an informative post about the boots after doing some research.Many different manufacturers make exact copies of this same boot (as well as the standard, full leather, lug sole combat boot) but they are all made in China. Altama used to be the original manufacturer of this style of boot and made a boot in the USA that would last until the soles wore down to nothing (I had mine for 7/8 years). I went to find these again and it was remarkably difficult to find them at all except for the small stocks that a few surplus stores had (none in my size), so I did a little digging.Altama was bought by Original Footwear in 2014, and they promptly closed the Altama plant in Lexington, TN in June of that year. Original Footwear owns Original S.W.A.T. as well as Wellco and their research division, RoSearch. When I contacted them about Altama dealers, I was told that the Altama brand would be coming back in 2016 when facilities were moved to Morristown, TN. Wellcos (and RoSearch) are currently made in Morristown, although it looks like they were having these boots made in China for a bit while they transitioned the Altama line to Morristown (or more likely, simply buying the cheap knockoff boots in bulk and rebranding them).The quality issues people are seeing here are probably due to the fact that whatever stocks of Altama were left when they closed the plant were probably rebranded as Wellco (or later made in China), and people who know they're about to lose their jobs tend to not care about quality. According to what I read on some forums, the employees were laid off and the plant phased out over the course of a couple of years, and everyone knew what was coming.I have a strong feeling that these boots are going to "become" Altamas when the manufacturing facilities are finished moving, and hopefully being made in the US with the old equipment again will mean a return to the same quality standard. So, if you're looking for this style of combat boot, wait until 2016 to see if the US manufacturing picks up and gets back to the old quality standard. I wouldn't buy these OR the Altamas that are still floating around due to the aforementioned issues.
