I wish the nighttime was better, but for a base-model it's still good
Purchased for my motorcycle helmet in the event of an accident. Setup and operation is fairly intuitive, reading the manual is always helpful. I was very impressed with the daytime video quality and resolution (especially at the readability of license plates). I wish the nighttime was better, but for a base-model it's still good. The one-touch setting for recording is very good for riding (powers unit on and begins recording with a flashing red light and an audible beep to acknowledge start). I use the loop function so the video records in set interval segments and overwrites the oldest when the card is full. Battery life could be longer, but not without adding considerable bulk to the unit, satisfactory for one-way and short trips with recharge in-between. I was in an accident and had the camera on. It was a hit-and-run on the freeway, but I was able to pull the footage and plate from the video. When I landed, the adhesive on the camera mount broke free and the camera tumbled next to me. After the tumble it stopped recording (possibly because the button managed to get pressed). The beveled corner/edge around the lens was scratched and the housing latch came off. Camera still functions and the primary area of the lens was damage-free. GoPro support sent a replacement housing latch in less than 4 days (called on Friday, replacement came Tuesday). Overall very happy with the physical quality of camera and parts, video quality, and customer service/support.

The Gopro Hero+ is absolutely amazing, this Video camera is a high quality camera ...
The Gopro Hero+ is absolutely amazing, this Video camera is a high quality camera that is meant mainly for high action scenes like mountain biking, kayaking, and cliff jumping. I mostly use the Gopro for mountain biking and it is very useful and productive. The first day I used it I was very excited and was shocked how long the battery lasted and the quality from the camera. Also the camera is very small and lightweight. When I got home and watched the videos I was very happy with the quality, it was very clear, and the mic was very good you could hear music in the background and when i was talking. There is also a useful app you can download on your smartphone to make sure the camera is straight for perfect video taking. The Gopro Hero+ is a decent price for the quality at about 200 dollars. You get non blurry videos and it is a super nice tool to have when wanting action videos You also have water resistance at 131 feet. The camera is by far my favorite item I have ever bought and would recommend it to anyone who wants action videos at a high quality.

Forget the LCD Screen - WiFi, 1080p HD under $200
This is my first "proper" Amazon review as I feel this product truly merits it. I not only like this product, I love it, and find myself looking for possible uses for it beyond the security setup I have planned (explained below) To save readers time, I've attached a single frame snap & sped up video of a dash-cam setup, more on par with real world usage. I used one of the two 3M VHB backed mounts to mount it on my car's dashboard. The other mount is curved, would conform to a helmet. Comes out of the box waterproof with an additional back backing for optimal voice & sound in wind under 100mph. No microSD card included, so grab the $199 Amazon bundle while you can which includes a 32G high speed microSD card. In addition to the video attached, I've added a frame snap, as I took it at full 1080p HD. You will see GoPro's wide angle quality, what merited this review alone. I recorded myself driving back home at night as a test, excuse the darkness, the snapshot will give you an idea of a snap from the 60fps 1080p HD video recorded. I was shocked to see I drove up to 7-11 and could literally make out the cashier counting money at the register later on. Full review and context follows below. I've been using a handful of DLink Cameras in parallel with UBNTEK's Mac Application for a cheap yet quality surveillance setup. Mostly D-Link Wireless Day/Night Network Surveillance Camera with mydlink-Enabled (DCS-932L) and the more recent DCS-934L. I even just spent $149 on their 1MP camera. I thought they were brilliant and the best quality for the price... The latest purchase was $149 on sale for a WiFi enabled 1MP DLink Camera. It was great, all cameras were 'interior' rated but have stood up to NJ winters with the ethernet taped over. Unfortunately the latest 1MP camera has numerous holes for heat dissipation, so I needed a camera for semi-outdoor usage that had more than scotch tape as weatherproofing. Reading up, I heard about the GoPro HERO + that was coming out, same makers of the cams that TV shows such as Top Gear, use and have previously been 'off limits' for every day consumers at their pricing. It was a week off until they were released, but I figured I would wait. I don't go skiing, kayaking, or anything remotely interesting enough to merit the usual $300+ price-tag of their more expensive brothers. But seeing this entry level GoPro HERO+ price under $200 with the promo pack with a 32G card piqued my interest. I purchased it Oct 8 the day it was released. 2 days later it arrived. I have never been so impressed of the build quality of a product at this price. The waterproof clip actually feels waterproof, I wouldn't hesitate to use the waterproof feature if I needed, not something I could say even looking at some of the waterproof cellphones out. The 32G card is rated as giving just under 3 hours at 1080p HD. If you're recording long trips, I would suggest a USB cord or a battery booster pack. I didn't recharge the system after my first 1 hour trip, used it again, and it died during the trip back. I couldn't tell, but that was because of a feature I activated, which turned off the rear facing LED so I wouldn't be distracted during night driving, can't remove a star for that. The most impressive feature is what most worried me at first, the 'WiFi' function and bluetooth. With a few clicks of the top and front buttons I put the camera into WiFi mode. Without even reading the instructions, just downloading the Android App I was paired in 5 seconds, surprised WiFi paired that fast. It will auto-disconnect you from your current WiFi and hop on the GoPro's WiFi. Full high speed zero latency viewing from the application. So you can mount it in your car or helmet, open your app, check the view is what you want, and click record from the Android App. You can also watch videos back, or use it as a live viewer. I am glad I saved $100 as I didn't need the LCD screen with the WiFi function. It also has a function to mark / highlight parts of the video that you want to view later. The app is very intuitive and I created the high speed video summary of part of my drive in 5 minutes. Overall just a great product at a game-changing price. I've already purchased a second promo bundle that includes the a 32G micro SDHC card that sadly is missing from the retail box. If I had to complain, it would be over a lack of any microSD out of the box, but at this price, I'm even up in the air about that! UPDATE: LIVE preview while recording was not available ONLY in 1080p HD mode. I turned to the UltraView (very very Wide view) 720P HD last night and this morning and was able to watch and adjust my camera *while* I recorded on a drive (albeit parked of course) I can not sing the praises of this brilliant little piece of technology more. Feel free to reply with any questions about operation, I'm currently doing a test of the time-lapse mode, which I initiated *from my phone* to my parked car around 100 yards away. I need to update my poor battery life was MY FAULT. Lack of turning it off when not in use after parking. I found this out when I was able to start a time-lapse preview from my house far away from the card. The little bugger was still on in WiFi. I drained it accidentally due to lack of RTFM. If you do so, you will have smooth sailing. Snatch one (or three) up while you can. Best, Kris

YAAY....I got me a GOPRO!!
The good. Very good video and audio quality. Appears to be made of high quality. The bad. I am using this for a dashcam, found very hard to understand the terminology of the settings. Constant reboots are required, cam stops recording at various times...usually when I am unable to restart the device as I am driving. No way to easily see or find date / time stamp. Very unhappy with the product, bought this to replace another dashcam that I really enjoyed using for about 6 months, decided to go with a "superior" name brand unit, regretting that now!! 12-10-15: After using the device for a month or so, I decided to update my review to favorable. Everything I wrote above is still valid exept for constant reboots. I had a faulty usb cable with intermittent charging. I am still using this as a 24-7 dashcam in my commerial vehicle. I wish the unit used mini usb instead of micro.

Cool gadget
I'm a super tech geek and I love my little gadgets and gizmos but This is my first GoPro. I battled back and fourth with the decision to purchase, but eventually I just gave in, and I'm glad I did. Now I'm not a tech pro, so idk what half the acronyms mean when reading through camera specs, but I do know a good product when I see one. First, I got a camera bundle for the same price as the camera alone, which included the GoPro and basic mounts, along with an Amazon basics head mount and 32gig micro sd card. On top of that, after the purchase, Amazon mailed me 2 discount codes for a free digital copy of Kung fu panda, and a free agitatedly 8x8 photo book. The package came quickly, arrived on Christmas Eve, and was secure. I had no problems figuring out how to use it straight out this with no prior GoPro experience. I'm so used to cameras with screens, it felt awkward having one without, but with the app, your smartphone becomes your viewfinder, which is pretty damn cool! I did play around with it a bit. Transition from moving the camera around had a bit of a lag but was surprisingly smooth. Video had a very fisheye appearance which I'm not sure yet if I can change in the settings, cuz I'm not really a big fan of it. I do love it and plan to play around some more and unleash it's capabilities. In the meantime, it can also be used for home security or even a baby monitor, nanny cam etc. making it multifunctional beyond the outdoorsie fun stuff you can also use it for. All in all it's a pretty cool concept and I'm happy with my purchase

GREAT CAMERA ALOT OF IMPROVEMENTS SINCE THE HERO 3
THIS IS A REVIEW COMPARING TO A $400 (at the time of purchase) GO PRO BLACK EDITION Works great, wifi is a lot better than the Hero 3 Black Edition I had. Not sure if it's due to the phone app updates or if its the model it self (still its better). Video quality looks really good on smart phones, on computers looks decent, and on TV looks kinda average. The battery in this is alot better then the hero 3 black. My hero 3 black battery did not like the cold! This one doesn't seem to even notice it. I like mounting this on a gorilla pod, going high up in a tree and making a time lapse, had it outside high up in a tree for 3 hours multiple times still had juice left over in 30 degree windy weather. However only issue I have with this camera is the fact that the settings UI is more compact and have to click more buttons to do something (not saying its hard to use, just felt like the software was a downgrade from Hero 3).

Battery Charging Downtime
This is my first GoPro and am not really impressed by the features on this one. This is an entry-level unit and is priced accordingly. The cons for me were the inability to swap batteries, the inability to use a battery 'bac pac' and the need to constantly turn the wifi back on. So my intended use was to have a cam that I could mount on the roof rack and control from my phone. Problem is, even in standby it drains the battery very quickly so that means you either need to turn it off if you aren't going to be recording for any length of time, like say 30 minutes or more(which then requires you to go through the menus to turn the wifi back on, rejoin from your phone, etc. which is a huge pain if it is mounted top center of a roof rack) or risk running out of battery during recording. And the alternative from GoPro is a Hero 4, which starts at $400, and then add in extra batteries and chargers and you are over $500...and that doesn't help the having to turn the wifi back on. I am contemplating whether to sell this one and go that route or just buy another one of these and swap them while the battery is charging. Overall I think these are decent cameras just not suited to my situation, but if you don't have the same needs, they do produce nice quality video and seem to be durable.

Good Starter Model, get the GoPro Hero with Wi-Fi - upgrade id worth every penny!
My daughter wanted an inexpensive GoPro she could work with as she wasn't sure she would use it. We purchased the GoPro Hero (without Wi-FI). We quickly learned that for a few dollars the Wi-Fi version was the one to get. Her sister has a GoPro4 Silver and the LCD is very nice, but with Wifi this quickly syncs with your phone and it does everything and more than LCD. If this is a first purchase for child, or you want to see what it's all about on the cheap, I strongly suggest getting this slight upgrade. One last point, the 'non Wi-Fi' version only accepts a 32 gig SD card. The 'Wi-Fi' version takes the larger, faster 64g card. The one downside to both these models is the do not have remove able batteries. Bring a large capacity battery backup and you can quickly recharge. I hope you find this review helpful!
