Fun Starter Set But Left Wanting More
I bought this for my almost 7 year old for Christmas. She finds it difficult to hold the outer stencil still by herself, but enjoys creating spiraling patterns with the help of Mom or Dad. It's great that it packs away in a small tin for travel and has been very useful for keeping daughter #1 entertained at restaurants and waiting rooms. I wish Hasbro would bring back the vintage Spirograph from my own youth. This is a good starter set, but I was left wishing for more.

Reminds me of the Spirograph toy I had as a child
After playing with a similar concept at our local science museum, my son wanted a spiral art set. I remembered Spirograph from my childhood. However, with Spriograph no longer available in its original form, I picked this one. It is sturdy, well made and came with 3 pens. My son spent hours making designs. If you remember the Spirograph toy from your childhood, this is a good one to get as a replacement. The sturdy metal box is a nice touch.

If you can't find a Spirograph, this an excellent substitution
I was looking for a Spirograph for my young daughter for Christmas because she likes to draw and be creative. After searching for a Spirograph unsuccessfully, I came across this product. It has six gears of different sizes, two templates and three pens. I like this set because I think it has enough variety to get your child started to make a variety of designs. After a little instruction, my daughter was able to make designs on her own . I also like that it comes in a metal tin so it doesn't take up too much space. This is a great quality set to get young children started on that won't cost an arm and a leg.

Beats paying for overpriced Spirograph!
I didn't know that the mathematical description of these patterns was "hypotrochoid", which is a new word I hadn't heard before. Although I admit that "Spirograph" is easier to pronounce and spell, the Hypotrochoid Art Drawing Set accomplishes the same functionality as the Spirograph at 1/5 the price. That way, when your child loses interest in the set, as all kids eventually do, you've saved that other 4/5 of the purchase price to use for other toys. Excellent!

It's Alright
While it isn't the original Spirograph, this little kit is still neat. It has a nice tin that stores all the parts, including extra pens and it works pretty well. There are only three sizes of inner gears and two different-sized rings to put them in. There are multiples of each, which makes it nice for two people to use at once. We threw out the pens that came with it, as I wanted to use pens I knew were more archival. We used Sakura Gelly Roll fine points and they worked great. I'd recommend this for kids eight years old and up, as one has to use one hand to hold the ring down and the other to work the gear. That is a little tricky for the younger ones. If you really want the Spirograph experience, I'd recommend buying the original, as this doesn't present a lot of options. Overall, it isn't a bad product and it is amusing for kids and adults.

I would buy this a hundred times
OH. MY. GOODNESS.This was bought as a stocking stuffer for my 13 year old, but everyone in the house (3 younger brothers, 1 older sister, and both parents) keep taking it to "play with." It's as fun as I remember when I was a child. Good construction, lots of options for the size of the cute tin.The price of these sets can go very high, so I was pleased to get this set, even if the sizes don't go wuite as large as I'd like.I would buy this a hundred times. Almost everyone has fun with these. No kidding.

Unsure!
Not easy for my 7 year old to use. She had a very hard time so for that I don’t give it all 5 stars. Case and pens worked out but spinners were difficult to access what side was up

Great item.....it works well.....Fantastic
Years past there is a product by Kenner - Spirograph. I saw the Kenner original Spirograph on Ebay for many $$$'s. Toys r Us has a imitation product but the quality is less than fair. I saw this item on Amazon that we tried called Hypotrochoid Art Set. My wife tried the product and said, this product works well and is outstanding. Thanks Amazon for a great product without paying for the original Kenner on Ebay and works as presented. You'll be happy with this item. Thanks again

Not as many designs but it is easy to use
Memories of my older Spirograph. Not as many designs but it is easy to use.

Fun item but limited.
Limited range of patterns as the selection of gear sizes isn't marvellous. The gears are badly moulded and don't lie flat, so you have to distort them by hand just before use or they jam or fail to draw. On the other hand it was cheap, came in a nice tin, and does work within its limitations.

I still have mine (and I am 51 years old!)
The hypotrochoid set is great fun and this comes in a nice tin case which helps the child keep all the bits together. And it also brings three colourful pens! Excellent gift at a really good price!

Compared with the Spirograph
I like the fact that it's contained in a tin, but it's rather fiddly and difficult to operate for small children. Not as good as the old Spirograph but still very good value and I would buy another if I couldn't get hold of the real McCoy.
