There is a piece if plastic deperating the battery from power, you need to remove it. It is tight. A must, you never know when you'll need it. This baseline and alcohol squares.,

I use this thermometer in taking care of our calves and cows. It reads very fast and is easy to read. It has larger numbers, and it will beep when the high temperature is reached. It has actually been a big part of keeping my animals healthy, because it is so easy to use. You will have to push the button and hold it for a few seconds for it to turn on and then push the button again for it to turn off. Highly recommended.

Product failed to turn on. No instructions or manual other than saying "push the button". It is useless. Now I have to go to a drop-off sot just so that I can get my money back -- in a month or two. That is very poor customer service. Do Not Buy This Product -- or you too will have to spend time and effort and not have something that works.

High quality, accurate and easy to use

Requires a very tiny battery which it doesn't come with.

I like the whole concept of this thermometer. I use it for my horse and I had no issues with it. It does take longer than 10 seconds for it to register but not so long that I would have given it fewer stars.

Takes a long time to complete reading the tempature. Good thing my horse will stand still! Not sure how accurate it is.

I needed to take the temperature of a ram on the farm but didn't have a thermometer. My husband picked one up for me. I get out to the field to take the temperature and realize that the thermometer isn't digital. (I know I should've pulled it out of the case and looked at it.) I haven't used a non-digital thermometer in decades. Plus, I didn't have my readers so wouldn't be able to read it, even if I could remember how to take it correctly. I came inside and immediately when to Amazon to locate a digital thermometer that would arrive in a couple of days. Viola, done! The thermometer arrives. This time I do look over the thermometer. Everything looks ready to go. It came with the battery. Went out, again, to check the temperature of the ram and was successful! Super simple to use. Pull off the sheath, push the button (it should have an "L"), and insert the thermometer. Within about 8 seconds, I had the temperature. Also has a nice case to keep it in when not in use. I definitely recommend.
