How far out from the wall does it hold the weapon? How much weight does it hold?

it is about two inches to center. The weight really depends on how it is attached to the wall. this is solid hardwood, it will not fail until hundreds of pounds. If you put it in wood/studs, it will hold almost any weight. if you put it in drywall, it will depend on the screws and you may need to be careful over 10 pounds or so.

the distance rail to tail is 17-18 inches depending on how you measure it. because of the point and pommel, having a secure rest requires something about 20 inches or more depending on the exact piece. I would say anything over 24 inches is quite safe.
