Darn tootin, I thought it came with the heating pad, but it didn't. But the thermostat is great quality, easy to set it up hopefully, but you ARE going to need the pad. But that was easy to find here. My husband has had these before, and it worked very well, but he didn't pack the, and even in the freezing temperatures it still heated up the seedlings. Worked great until our Opossum got to the seedlings..LOL true story. So we do recommend it, great quality, easy to use. And our old one lasted 5 years. Just watch your Opossums..LOL

I am very happy with these thermostats. I am using them to control Vivosun heat mats.. The combination works flawlessly. The temperature control is acceptable and with the controller, very adjustable. They do not heat quickly. For me, that is ideal. They do not draw a lot of power while warming, and seem to not take much electricity to maintain the temperature once it reaches the setpoint. That is excellent. I have used Vivosun heat mats and thermostats in the past and expected them to still be high quality. That is exactly what I found. Very easy to use. I have never had any problems with them and they get water all over the mats almost constantly with timed watering. No issues at all. I keep the thermostats elevated out of the water spray, so the critical connections always stay dry. I am a fan of Vivosun products and will purchase them in the future.

I bought this temperature to keep batches of Kombucha at optimum temperature through the fermentation. Even though some reviews and in the description, brewing Kombucha is mentioned, as being helped by using this control. Unfortunately, it does not suit that purpose. The unit has as external thermometer attached to the end of one of the cables coming out of the unit. This thermometer must be submerged in whatever substrate your measuring temperature in. When the target temperature is reached, the unit turns off temporarily. To have that on/off feature work with Kombucha, you’d have to submerge it in the liquid. The instructions tell you to absolutely NOT submerge the thermometer in liquid. This makes this unit unsuitable for brewing or any use involving temperature control of a liquid. I plan to try putting the thermometer between the outside of the jar and underneath the heating pad to see if this gives me reasonable results. Summarizing, if you need to control of a ferment, Kombucha or otherwise, you should explore another option. If you’re going to use this for seed germination, I think you’ll be fine. It’s well-built, doesn’t feel or look cheap. And Vivosun products have been my top purchase for hydroponics.

I purchased 4 of these mats. 1 of the mats didn't work properly and I contacted the company. I had a replacment mats hipped out without any hassle.

works pretty good , although mine all of a sudden stopped putting out Fahrenheit , it only gives me Celsius . so, I have to do conversions to use.

I read some reviews saying the thermostat did not read true. I took a chance and bought one last month for my seedling heat mat then ran a test when I got it. I set it to 80 for my mat with a cup of water on it. Put the thermostat thingy in the water and waited testing every so often. The thermostat read consistently .2 higher than my instant thermometer so good there. It shut off at 80.2 and turned back on at 79.5 - perfect. I was happy so I bought the second one I needed and it tested the same. I am very happy with these

So I bought two of these at different time recently for my new reptile enclosures. I bought them maybe a week or two apart. The first one I bought is still doing good. But the second one went out only after a few days of receiving it. I’m not sure if I did something wrong but it just stoped working. Either way, they are priced well and since my first one is still going strong, I can’t help but to rate this product still a five star. The one thing that made me happiest, when it did fail, it didn’t overheat before doing so like other brands have been known to do. So my animals remained safe.

It controls the mat temperature very well

This is the first time I have grown vegetables, especially from seed indoors. I have used the mat for about a month and a half now and it's been working great for my jalapeno and tomato seeds. Where I expected germination to occur in 2-3 weeks for my peppers, I saw results in about a week and a half. The controller for the mat is easy to understand and operate once you read the manual. I like that the thermometer probe comes with a suction cup so you can secure it to any humidity dome you are using. The probe seems to be accurate and reacts to changes in temperature quickly. I grow my seedlings in the basement where it's around 18C, but the mat keeps the soil toasty at 24C all day everyday no problem. I would buy the mat again if I needed to grow more seedlings in the future - for 20-25 dollars I think it is a good price.
