Another Solid Star Trek Series.
I did tape many of these episodes when it was originally broadcast, but I must say that there were many shows I never saw. During my current Star trek genre viewing I decided to order the entire series on DVD. I was surprised to see that Voyager is now out of print. The prices are astronomical for individual seasons. But I was able to get it. It was the only series from the 1990's I did not have on DVD. As it stands, only Deep Space Nine is the series I've seen in full. Not even my favorite, Star Trek: The Next Generation have I seen. that will change this time around.Kathryn Janeway is an incredible woman. tenacious, ruthless and also kind. nevertheless, she does things her way as we saw in caretaker. She very well could and SHOULD have used the array to get back to the Alpha Quadrant. Yet she took pity on the Ocampans and violated the Prime directive, which she always seemed to tout when she wanted to. "Equinox", "Omega", etc. Late on we'll see how she would not even give a favorable judgment for Q Continuum when in exchange they would have gotten the crew of Voyager back to Earth. Q could have created a mutiny had he told the crew of Voyager what he'd offered them in exchange for Janeway simply allowing someone to live. Hardly that big a deal. But her own code of honor forced her to do the opposite of what would have benefited her crew. Picard would not have done that. He'd have done whatever he could have done to keep the crew of the Enterprise safe. See the episode: "Q-Who" for proof of this.I give this DVD set a Four Star Rating. I'm the 1821st person to review this DVD set.A. Nathaniel Wallace, Jr.

Star Trek Voyager Season 1
Dec. 6th, 2012 9:21 am I have not purchased all of season 1 yet. But I have bought the first 7 episodes and I have l have always like The Star Trek Voyager when it was on tv, so so so many years ago! If I could buy the whole set 1-7 right now I would! But when you are short of money it has to take time, and little by little!!!! I am very grateful that Amazon is allowing you to buy them one at a time here on their website on video on demand or all of the seasons you are watching!!! Oh I wished I had known about it much earlier, but lost internet for 2 months, and I had other commitments to honor. And When I got my internet back and I came to my Amazon Acount and saw the deal they were having, I bought and watched 7 Episodes so far of season 1 and I love them!!!!! I can't wait til I can buy more, but when money is short it takes time! THANK YOU AMAZON, FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING WITH THE STAR TREK VOYAGER SERIES!!!! Had I not had other commitments I would have bought the whole season 1 set, because I would have been able to save money! But I did not have it. But THANK YOU !!!!! If you have this same offer next month I would be able then! I use to when I was younger, watch all the STAR TREK SHOWS, But When They Came Out With Star Trek Voyager, It Became My Very Favorite!!!!! I have had the Whole SERIES On My Wish List, But just did not have the money to purchase It! I hope anyone who loves Star Trek Voyager takes advantage of the offer that Amazon is offering now, and I hope they will continue it longer for those who are on a fixed or low income budget so we can own the complete series!Polar 2[Eya-Andrea]

Season One/The Start Of A Great Series
The highlight for me was seeing the first episode-Caretaker. I did not see that episode while the series was on TV in syndication. So it was a treat seeing that episode for the first time. For me the best episodes for Season One was Caretaker because it introduces the series, the characters, and how two space vessels would wind up deep in the delta quadrant some 70,000 light years away from Earth. The second good episode was Parallax. Here we see how the Federation and Maquis crews are intergrated into one crew that will function really well together throughout the series. Also what sets this series apart from the other Star Trek series is the selection of a female captain-Kathryn Janeway. Throughout the series I would come to love her as the captain and she was a good one. I would have no problem serving under her and this is coming from someone who served in the military,There is a book that describes all the major characters. It gets into their life history to include events that leads to how they would wind up on Voyager. the book is titled Star Trek Voyager Pathways. If one wants to learn more about the major characters this book is worth checking out.As for the packaging it's not bad. Each disc is in it's own compartment. The one drawback is that the episode titles are not printed on the disc or the packaging. The only way one can learn the episode titles is to put the disc in the player. it is something I can live with. Also there were no problems with the discs after playing them. Also Amazon did it'd usual good job in getting the item to be in a timely manner. Again I used the no cost SuperSaver shipping. Once again good job.

Brilliant Trip Down Memory Lane with Janeway & Voyager
I'm not a Star Trek super fan or anything and this was the only series/spin-off I ever really watched properly after growing up with the later films in the 80's and 90's. But I've really enjoyed the two more recent films as has my partner who had shockingly never seen a single Star Trek film or TV series previously but really liked the recent films and is looking forward to the third, so i thought I'd try and see how Voyage went down, and - if I'm honest - I was also looking forward to seeing it again for a bit of nostalgia for the fantastic Captain Janeway who I had a bit of crush on when I saw this the first time around - what a woman! And if I'm really honest I was also looking forward to seeing the very lovely '7 of 9' again at some point, but I was also in it for the lost-in-space antics of course and it's great rainy-Sunday-afternoon fodder. But back to Kate Mulgrew who plays such a brilliant (and very believable) captain of the lost spaceship Voyager which is struggling to find its way home through space - she comes across as a real ice maiden, cold and logical and sometimes seemingly devoid of any personal emotion but you know she means business and this first season does a great job of setting her up as a principled and disciplined leader who is fair, sassy and controversial enough to make you love and hate her in equal measure. Some of the episodes are brilliant, some are very good and there are just one or two that drag a little in comparison to an episode that came before, but for a first season of a new series (obviously not new now) I think it's brilliant and does more than enough to make you want to get straight into season two with a nice season finale. All the other characters are set up nicely, too and yes some of the sets and science behind the science-fiction are sometimes questionable and a little dated but I think that's also part of its charm and it never takes away from the story. Very pleased to say the other half enjoyed it enough to commit to watching season 2 with me - bonus! Speaking of which there are decent extras and bonuses on this box set as listed - I haven't bothered with these but there seems a good amount for any more dedicated fans. My only tiny gripe with this box set is that although it's a very nice presentation box it is a little wider/deeper than standard DVD's and other box sets, which means it sticks out a little on the DVD shelf and upsets my otherwise immaculate DVD library. But I'm 99% confident I'm the only human being on the planet who cares about that ;)

Superb value.
Very cheap price, came way before delivery date. All unmarked, sealed. Some buyers of this product complain about some episodes in German, which is true (not many). As I use 5KPlayer the fix is simple - top left click the option for language and just click English. Simple. Dunno why a few episodes default to German after you have chosen English, but it's no issue.*Update, had to mark it down due to disc 4 not working at all. Tried 3 devices - nothing. The second disc in this box has the special features, and this works. The disc is not damaged in any way (brand new) but it's not having it.*

the journey of a Trekie and her cat through the Star Trek universe.
I never got into the remakes of Star Treks in the 90's when they were originally shown. I was a fan of the original series when it came out in the 60's and liked the nostalgia of the movies with the original crew. Then I got hooked on Enterprise which is an excellent show that should have had a longer run. Scott Bakula was an excellent captain. But, with that one over I had to go back to Next Generation which was a mixed bag in my estimation but who could not like Picard. Lately, I've wandered into Deep Space Nine and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of plots in that series. My cat and I like Quark best. The introduction of the wormhole and the Gamma quadrant made for a multitude of stories to be told. So of course with that done, there is Voyager. A smaller ship that won't get home for 70 years? Surprise! There are still stories to tell. My favorite stories are those of moral dilemmas, choices we make and why we make them, which crop up in these later offerings. There is some good story telling here. My cat likes Andromeda better which was produced by Majel Roddenberry - my cat likes action and tends to sleep through Voyager. So if you're looking for action, my cat would recommend Andromeda or the newer Star Trek movies. Or I hear there is a new Star Trek series floating out in the universe somewhere. . .

Great Series, Great Value and Great Box-set!
This product hits the mark in all three cases - the plot, the price tag and the incredible casing.Firstly, I dont think that I need to go in to too much detail about Voyager or its cast. If you are on this page you already know it was one of the best Star Trek series to be released. It was dark, eventful and had a female captain as its lead - and a great supporting cast. The plot showed a whole new dimension to the ST universe - rather than exploring the galaxy (which they still do) they have to get home with limited resources, capability and find a shortcut. The casing itself is the real gem - hard red plastic with a small CD rack inside containing all the great episodes. This is what really makes it a collector's piece and looks great on the shelf. As for the value, at the time I paid very little for this, considering they were going for about Β£150 more in a leading high street retailer.Anyway, you wont be disappointed with either the show itself or the presentation it comes in - so why you still reading this? Go buy it!

Take a different view of the 'final frontier'
Ok so the premise isn't that new, travelers stranded many miles/years away from home, but Voayger has to be the best to come out of the 'StarTrek' universe (OK so I'm biased). It plays to all those stereotypes about 'time travel' 'development of cultures' etc.. but to be honest the whole basis of it has to be one of continueing exploratory searches on the way home. it's almost like that day as a kid on your walk back from school when yo suddenly looked with a different viewpoint at that path down there through the woods and off you went, 'its a little off the beaten track and it's not really the way home but who knows. In series 1 you have to love Nelix and get the start of Tom's bar in Marseille (or where ever it is). it become quite pivotal later on but then in later series hardly feature at all.Give it a try if you only ever saw few episodes you will not be wasting time or money.
