Edlund4409HD 44 Series 9" Heavy-Duty Scallop Utility Tongs

I have the non-locking version. The steel is solid and thick, very good quality. They will outlast me. The quality is much better than anything else I have tried, three other brands were so thin they didn't last a year of normal household use.

I bought a pair years ago. They are always my go-too. Decided I better get another pair since I like them so much. The recent ones don't have a lock, even though it looks like they do in the picture. Still an awesome product, but the locks make it better for storage. We all have one of those drawers that always gets jammed when tongs aren't closed, right? 😉

The tongs are not spring loaded!! Defeats the whole purpose. You have to try to open them with three fingers while attempting to pick something up. Don't waste your money and time sending them back! Totally useless!!

I don't know why so many of the reviews say these tongs don't lock. They do. They have a simple little pull up piece at the top that locks them in place. This is our second pair. Our first pair is over a decade old and still going strong. Since then I have tried all sorts of other brands from William Sonoma to Sur La Table to my local restaurant supply store. These are still the best for no nonsense, secure clamping. Love them!

Absolutely the best tongs you'll ever own. I've used these tongs for over 20+ years both at home and in the culinary industry as a chef. Durable, strong, multiple lengths, able to life heavier objects with no chance of bending.

I have this tong at home with a lock on it. I bought two for my son, because I like the quality and made in USA. The 12" I received has a lock. The 9" does not. What's up with that? I feel like returning it, but the tong is a good one, so keeping it, but bummed about the no lock. I mean, why? Actually, why not?
