How do you know which size to order? This is my first time working with leather, and I am planning on making a journal cover. Thanks!

I'm new to leather working also and I bought the 4mm which is a pretty good size for small to large projects. I did a card wallet as my first project and the 4mm spacing looks good and would work well on a larger project as well. I used .8mm tiger thread and and John James 002 harness needle.

How many stitches per inch is this tool? I'm looking for a set that's closer to 5 stitches per inch? (I get 5 with an simple awl now) thanks!

Using a 4mm Aisker tool, you will get 7 stiches per inch, but a normal 6 punch tool will give you 7/8ths of an inch. You can find a set of the Aiskaer punches on Amazon, at a very reasonable prince.
