Avoid - Rust with 24 hours!
I bought this product to peg down garden membrane before laying slate over. Very disappointed as the product is advertised as galvanised / rust prevention, but within 24 hours and some rain, there is noticeable rust on the steel pegs (see photo). The pegs also bent easily when it touched a stone.I expect a better product given the 4/5 star reviews. I know there are better products out there at a very similar price ... I only purchased this as a previous brand which I bought and used a fortnight ago had sold old (these were the ECOgardener Extra Heavy Duty brand which I would recommend!)Perhaps rust prevention applies to the product whilst in remains in the box prior to use??DISAPPOINTED

Easy to insert if there aren't any stones
When you wished you'd never started a job it makes it easier if you have the right equipment to finish it. After moving into our house 2 years ago we realised that without spraying copious amounts of weedkiller on the gravel we were going to have to do something long term as the weeds just kept on coming and even when the plants are dead you still have to dig them out. So the plan was to remove said stones and lay heavy duty weed control down and cover up with stones again. There's approximately 400 square meters to tackle so it was a job we wanted to get right first time as there's was no chance I was ever getting my husband to agree to plan B which was sell up and find somewhere with an easier garden to maintain. Here's a couple of photo's of a small area we tackled (during and after), the pegs hold the weed control down very securely. They're easy enough to get in so long as there aren't any stones underneath which in our case proved to be a bit of a challenge but we did manage - one or two pegs were bent beyond functionality in the process. Also some choice words were uttered through gritted teeth as the prongs refused to budge when they hit a rock. But in my opinion they're essential if you're using weed control to keep it down properly. Even my husband who likes to avoid every and any opportunity to get out of doing anything he doesn't have to thinks they're worth the effort and money.

Better than Pegs by far!
I've bought these before & will buy again when needed. They hold down my membrane, secure my netting & great for when the strawberries decide to send out runners! They do rust but remain usable even after a bit rust but generally die after about 3 - 4yrs - for the price a total bargain! I move my paths & beds on the allotment each year & they just pull out if soil is moist but just lever out with an old knife if dry. Major advantage is if a big blow comes they stay put unlike the peg things, well except the barbed ones but then they ruin the fabric or membrane so deffo not re-visiitng them. Totally recommend these!

Not the same
My first comment when I handled these were what nice quality they are. The finish is very good, lovely and smooth. They have all been used now and I expect them to last a long time.I have just taken receipt of a second order of these based on how good a quality the last ones were. This batch are inferior. They are not heavily galvanised like the others but very thinly done. I don’t expect them to last very long before rusting. Very disappointed, and it goes to show sometimes quality cannot be relied on after a good first impression.

Great value spikes ... two years use and no rust
I think that this must be the sixth box of these that I have bought. I’ve been using them on our Smallholding for a couple of years now. Initially I tried the ‘premium’ version, which did rust quickly. However, since moving to the ‘galvanised’ type, there has been no sign of rust. I use them to hold the weed matting down on the beds between crop plantings and have been able to reuse them over two years now. Great value ... just make sure that you buy the ‘galvanised’ type.

Really grab the ground well
These are excellent. Strong enough to get some real bite in the ground. I used them to pin down the base of some large solar lamps and they work better than the pins that came with them as in fact I could get several through the hole and spread the anchorage wider. More tellingly we have an outdoor projector screen with eyelets and were able to hang the top from a tree and the bottom by elastic bungee cords solely into these pins pushed into the ground. Despite having elastic and a big sail attached to them they didn't pull out during the film and were as firm as when I put them in 2 hours later. Unusual test - but that would have been constantly pulling on them and no budging.

Excellent for holding weed suppression material
This is my second box of 100 of these. They’re excellent quality, nice sharp ends that pierce the weed suppression material easily and long enough in my heavy soil to stay put well. Very sturdy. The flat square top grips and holds the weed suppression neatly and effectively. Would suggest arch topped ones for tubes and hoses. Really pleased with these.

Very happy with this product.
Just what I wanted to anchor my ground cover in the raised beds to grow strawberries in.iIt did the job perfectly. However they didn’t hold down the same type of ground coveringIn the open, during a gale, but was able to put it all back after. Maybe the could do two lengths?Still very happy with them and would purchase again should I need to.
