The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: Bill Reid s Masterpiece

Beautiful photographs of a superb sculpture with an interesting description of the creatures described by Reid himself. I think it is a small treasyre to have.

Graphics well done. The explanation of the casting process good. The result places Reid with the best of American artists. Recommended.

An excellent photo book about Bill Reid's masterpiece, with a description of it by Bill Reid himself and lots of photos and explanations about its creation. I suggest reading as a companion book 'The Raven steals the Light' to get more insight into the meaning of the canoe's occupants. For one, after looking through this book, I shall never view the 'Jade Canoe' in the international departure lounge at the Vancouver Airport quite in the same way as before.
