Le Creuset Signature Stainless Steel Knob, Large

Now I can bake my artisan breads at high temperatures and not worry about the handle. A must have.

Bought this for a 7-1/4 Dutch oven used for baking bread at high temperature in the oven. I got tired of swapping it out with a small metal knob that came on another pot. The metal knob is essential for high heat oven cooking and it somewhat expensive (not compared to Le Creuset cookware) and classy looking. A significant benefit of the large metal knob is it's shape which moves the end of the knob further away from the lid allowing for a much better grip, essential when wearing oven mitts, but just general handling. Mounted to the lid, the knob is taller. On big heavy pot lids, it looks fabulous and is very practical. I'm contemplating replacing all my big pot lids. I have $3000 in Le Creuset, much of it older bought at good prices, so a couple of hundred in metal knobs for a dramatic and practical upgrade to my cookware seems like a bargain. A stainless steel replacement screw comes with the knob in official Le Creuset packaging.

Great gift or upgrade to any Le Creuset lid. Bought for our many year old Dutch oven and the update makes it look brand new again. The handle is also much larger and more comfortable than the plastic.

We bought a Le Creuset Deep Dutch Oven 6.5qt from Costco, which came with the black plastic knob (which is only oven safe to 390 degrees). As wifey wanted to bake bread in the oven at 500 degrees, this required a change of knob to the large size stainless steel (which has no maximum oven temperature rating). I read some reviews that people are upset it's not solid, especially for the price. Yes, it is hollow and feels light, but so what? Actually, you don't want it to be solid steel otherwise it will retain the oven's high heat and take much, much longer to cool, and be potentially dangerous if you inadvertently grab it. Once it's screwed on, and it fits perfectly, it looks great and feels mighty solid in the hand.

I've had multiple Le Creuset pieces for many years. I never used them in high heat until I started to bake sourdough bread. I realized that the knob for my 6 qt'ish Dutch oven was only rated to 380 degrees. These knobs are pretty pricey on the manufacturer's site, but luckily Amazon carries them. I ordered a large stainless knob and it was delivered before I woke up the next morning. It came in the sealed Le Creuset orange manufacturer's packaging. It was a quick replacement with the provided screw.

Not sure why Le Crueset doesn't just come with these already on them. They should just automatically think people will need them and put them on their already expensive products. But this is a great add on to any purchase.

These medium sized stainless steel knobs are a nice upgrade appearance-wise for Le Creuset dutch oven lids. they look great and work well on cast iron cookware lids in sizes 20 -26 rounds, size 23 - 29 ovals, and any skillets, sauciers, brasiers, etc. in those size ranges. Any smaller or larger pieces look better in more size appropriate knobs in same or large sizes The silver and gold knobs are fairly interchangeable and match all available Le Creuset colors nicely. I use the copper knobs on Flame, any purple based colors, and a few others, but my choices are simply a matter of personal taste. One caveat, these knobs are hotter to handle than the standard black knobs, which also require a potholder nonetheless.

My dutch oven is mostly being used for sourdough and the black handle I had on it broke. Probably due to high temperatures. I therefore thought it best to replace it with a metal handle and this was really easy to replace and fit.
