I do not understand the 5. It is well made and has a nice finish. Taiwan I think. The nice looking (but slick) polished aluminum could be difficult to grasp with sweaty or greasy hands. Knurled would have been better but I was overall impressed with the quality. Tom **Q: Does this 3/8 and the 1/4 Gimbal Rachets have a quick release?** A: if you mean can you release the socket with one hand no. You have to pull the socket off, it's held on by a spring loaded ball on one of the 4 sides. It doesn't take too much force, but no way to remove the socket with one hand. **Q: Does it have a 'center' (between cw/ccw) or 'fixed' setting that allows you to apply torque in either direction without change or cw/ccw only?** A: No. It ratchets in one direction and locks in the other..
