Mattel Games Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Kids Game, Red Rocker vs Blue Bomber, Knock His Block Off

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my kid. It brought back memories of when I was a kid and had the same fun, silly excitement. Easy to play, lots of laughs, and a great family game!

Of course the commercials make it look like so much fun and action packed to my 5 yo. It’s sort of old school fun, back when we didn’t have so much technology. He played with it once and hasn’t again since. I think the excitement for this toy quickly ended. The robots disconnect from the controller easy enough that you have to put it back together to work, a bit frustrating.

Much smaller (about half the size as I recall) than the original game that I bought for my son in the mid 80's. It also seems to be much more cheaply made and is more difficult to maneuver the boxers than the original game. Quality is not what it used to be!

I remember this from my childhood and purchased it as a family fun for all ages game. My grandson who will be 3 in February absolutely loves it! He's taken it as his own in all honesty. We play with it often and he laughs and has a blast! We do have to remind him the ropes will come loose if he's too rough with it. They pop right back in though so easy fix. This is great purchase and gift idea!

Far as I can tell, there are two versions of this Mattel game sold on Amazon (and then much smaller versions for show and not play). I bought both and am disappointed with both. Despite other customer reviews, these are NOT same scale as the original game (I mean the original Marx version prior to 2000 and not the Mattel versions). I think the original robots stood at least 8" high in the original, while this version has 5.75" robots, and the more expensive version sold on Amazon has 6.75" robots. The functional quality and overall "fun factor" diminishes EXPONENTIALLY with scaling, so I'd say the 6.75" version is maybe half as fun as the original, while this 5.75" is no fun at all and might offer some nostalgia value as purely display. Whoever at Mattel decided to shrink the size (and functional quality) of the game clearly hasn't played it. Your kids will be bored with these scaled down lesser versions in a matter of minutes if not sooner. I'll be posting similar about the 6.75" other version I also purchased.

Funktioniert super,leicht zusammenzubauen. Hat etwas länger gedauert als geplant kam aber glücklicher Weise dann doch.
