Human Capital: A Theoretical and Empirical Analysis, with Special Reference to Education, 3rd Edition

Using for my dissertation topic. Dr. Becker's original book was published in the 60s and is still in heavy use today. Human Capital Theory is foundational for a lot of business decisions. Becker explains this well.

This book is very technical in nature and not "a light read." However, it is an essential resource for anyone interested in labor economics and human capital. Dr. Becker is brilliant. Highly recommend!

A difficult read but comprehensive.

Recipient of the Nobel Prize in Economic Science, Becker has pioneered the aplication of economic analysis to human behavior in such areas as dicrimination, married, family, etc. This book is a classic study of the consequences of investing in a person's knowledge and skills. According to his theory, investing in an individual's education and training is similar to business investments in equipment. One of the principal book about Human Capital Theory.

Historical perspective was/ is a shocker...good read.

I purchase Human Capital as part of a classroom project. The book is in good shape but it had a lot of written notes in it. It will meet the purpose I need since I will only take a few notes from it and then put it on the bookshelf.

This book came at the perfect time and helped pass legislation in my country on the value of human capital! A classic study on why investing in people leads to great economic returns.

gary becker is modern ricardian economist. very innovative and creative way of looking at things. he adds human capital as distinct production function. his insight is still fresh and new.

The book that you need if you want to learn about the human capital theory

Decided to pick it up after my teacher recommended it, however o feel it is more geared at uni students rather then a level as it does contain a few challenging concepts
