    This book is fantastic, except for one problem: the quality has gone down remarkably.I bought my first copy of In My Tree 5 years ago, and that was 5-star quality. I just recently purchased a new copy as a gift, and was upset that the owl was made of harder material, rough, and my finger had a hard time fitting into the hole in the back (very uncomfortable). I compared the two side-by-side and the difference is stark. For what, saving pennies on manufacturing costs or quality control?Disappointed.

    I love these simple puppet board books by Sara Gillingham. I received the whole series for baby shower gifts. In my Den is a very sweet story about a bear making a bed and going to sleep with its family. As much as I like the book I have to explain that even though the bear in the story sleeps with it’s parents our child does not. It’s not a bad thing but just something that came up from reading the story together and why I rated four stars instead of five.

    Sweet Story for the Very Young Child

    This is a very simple, very short book (12 pages: 5 two page spreads, with a first and last page).  The text is brief and simplistic. It is perfect for a very young child.  The little owl finger puppet is adorable: brightly colored, soft to touch, and fun to look at, especially when he moves to and fro on mom's finger, or slides through the tree with each turn of the page.  The story is sweet, ending with the little bird arriving safe inside his warm tree with his family.  My 1 year old loved the story and the bird.
