Wonderart Latch-Hook Kit, Unicorn, 12" X 12"

I bought this latch hook project for my 8-yr-old daughter. The canvas is not stamped, but there are 10x10 gridlines. I know a lot of people are complaining about the design not being stamped on the canvas, but here's the thing: my daughter started out on a different kit that WAS stamped, but the colors and pattern on the canvas didn't always match up with the colors on the printed pattern, so having it stamped ended up being more confusing. I told her to just ignore the colors on the canvas and go by the pattern on the instruction sheet, and she found that to be much easier and more straightforward. Now that she's working on this unicorn kit, she's having no trouble at all working on a blank canvas. In fact, she has said that it's easier to work on because there are no colors on the canvas to trip her up. She started at the bottom left corner, as indicated in the instructions, and just goes across, row by row, coloring in the boxes she's completed with a marker as she goes along. I think this is a great precursor to counted cross stitch, which she eventually wants to learn how to do. As many others have noted, this kit does not come with the latch hook tool, so be sure to order a few (I say a few in case one gets misplaced). You'd think that something called a "kit" would have all the tools you need to complete it, but I think it makes sense that the hook isn't included. If you were to buy several of these kits over time, and they each came with the latch hook, you'd eventually end up with a drawer full of latch hooks. I'd rather buy a few than have a bunch that I don't need. The pattern and colors are very pretty. My only gripe is that two of the blues -- sky blue and dusty blue -- are so similar that you really have to look hard to tell them apart. They should have chosen more contrasting colors for those two blues. We pulled out all of the sky blues and put them in a ziploc baggie at the start of the project so that my daughter wouldn't have to stop and figure out which blue was which every time she pulled out a strand to use. Aside from that, though, this is a great project that will provide many hours of latch hooking happiness.

A great price on this little craft. Fun and easy for kids who like crafting. My daughter is 11 and has had a wonderful time doing it.

The design is NOT printed on the canvas. My husband and I had different understandings of other people's reviews regarding this: he thought it was printed and I understood it wasn't. I should have listed to my instincts because there is no design on the canvas. Perhaps some adults or older children could navigate the map and make the design work, but this was for my 7 year old who is just learning to latch hook. The design looks perfect, but the accomplishment of it is too much for her. Where are all the printed designs like when I was a girl? We will be returning it.

Made it for my granddaughter. She loved it. Had no problem. Better than I thought.

So dissatisfied with the product, Read Line 3 of the product information which stated printed canvas unicorn !! the Unicorn Latch hook I received for my 10 year old granddaughter is a BLANK Canvas. I do not recommend this product.

Mine came with no sky blue color so I can’t make the exact portrait I was hoping for. Little disappointing. If you get in Touch with the manufacturer they will tell you that, “If it wasn’t purchased directly from us, there is nothing they can do to help.” Live and learn I guess. I could go to the store and buy a sky blue color yarn then cut pieces to size but that just adds another expense and time to the project.
