Love the satchel
The Royal and Langnickel Manga Satchel Artist Pack is a very nice satchel for artists working in either manga or any media whose supplies will fit into it. It is advertised for the traveling manga artist and contains a hardbound sketch book with elastic to keep it closed and ribbon place marker, balloon templates which I don't think are of the best quality, a tri-fold Velcro-closure pencil/pen holder that includes an eraser, mechanicel pencil with extra lead, a gel ink pen, one 0.1mm line width permanent tip marker, one 0.3mm permanent tip marker and one 0.5 permanent tip marker. The satchel has an adjustable canvas strap with a reinforced area that goes over the shoulder and keeps the strap from digging too deeply into the shoulder area. (Since I have a shoulder replacement, this is important for me.) The satchel zips open on the front for the main compartment which is very roomy for sketch books, instruction books and even a laptop. A flap on the front beneath the zipper opens up to another area that has two zipper compartments. The top one is larger and the one beneath that is smaller. On the front of this whole compartment is an open pocket about 8" across and 5" deep. On the front of this open pocket is a small zipper compartment that you can see into since the front is mesh, and two small open-top pockets for other supplies that are small, pens, etc. The strap is very long and doesn't adjust to a very short length.Overall, this is a nice satchel to carry art supplies. Royal and Langnickel also makes another satchel which may have suited my needs a bit better than this one, although this one is sufficient.ย Royal & Langnickel Sketching Satchel Artist Pack A great book to tuck into this bag isย Mastering Manga with Mark Crilley: 30 drawing lessons from the creator of Akiko

Okay as an entry point travel drawing kit
I would give this product a 3.5 star rating if it were allowed. It's a little better than okay. There's nothing "Manga" about this set however. The hard bound sketching book is good for an entry point - it's about 70 lb paper and quite textured. The fineliners in this set don't bleed through the pages of the journal unless you go over and over a spot. The binding on the journal is very cheesy. The first page pulled away from the binding the first time I opened it, taking some of the paper on the back of the hardbound cover with it because the binding glue went over onto the cover. See picture for what I can't effectively put into words. For the rest of the pages, the binding seeped onto the pages, so you lose almost half an inch of the paper to the binding. The fineliners are marked as permanent, but they are most certainly not. I used them to make a light outline for a watercolor piece (on some heavy watercolor paper) and the ink from the fineliner bled the instant I added a very light touch of water, even though I applied watercolor over 24 hours after using the fineliner. The labeling is also already rubbing off the fineliner, and I've only used the pen for a couple of weeks. The stencils are flimsy and not very useful to me. I would call them more appropriate for standard comic book drawings (rectangles and conversation ballons) and don't have anything to do with the manga drawings I have seen. The mechanical pencil and pen are so-so - they don't feel very sturdy. The satchel is good for taking drawing supplies on the go, and it has quite a few compartments. The quality of the bag is pretty good and I think it will hold up as long as you aren't terribly rough with it.The eraser is great and does a really nice job erasing pencil from these pages. I also really like the pencil wrap - a simple velcro roll that has 7 spots for pens or pencils.Overall, it's an okay kit for someone who is testing out whether they like sketching or journaling. If I were going to make a similar purchase again, I think a better move would be to seek out a higher quality journal, and get a book bag, pencil wrap and eraser separately. That being said, I am regularly using the portions of the kit that I like.

Buy it for the good, large bag, not the supplies
This bag was bigger in person than I was expecting based on the photos. I'll probably eventually be happy about that, but I was intending something smaller.Pros:- The carry strap and bag material feel very sturdy- A very large pocket on the side big enough for a couple of colored pencil tins- An end pouch that fits my slightly awkwardly-sized Prismacolor sharpener perfectly- A mesh pocket for assorted additional items- VERY roomy center space with lots of room for sketchbooks- Pencil case includes sharpener and blending stumpsCons:- There is no structure to that center space; use hard or at least heavy stock covered books or they will slouch to the bottom. It does come with a hard-bound sketching book.- No interior pockets. It's just screaming for an interior pocket with some stiffness and a catch to hold loose-leaf paper.- No buckle or latch for the flap covering the pockets.- The assorted drawing aids (protractor, ruler, triangles, template) feel like a cheap toss-in to inflate the piece count; if you actually use items like this you may want better ones, and the ones that would be really useful like a French curve or a radius/circle template are not included.- Actually, all of the included supplies seem fairly basic in quality, but a step up from what is found in their Keep n' Carry sets. All in all, it's a great bag and all of the included supplies are basic but enough to hit the ground running. I just wish there was a bit more structure to the main compartment. I see other reviews complaining about early bag failure, if I have an issue with that I will update my review.

A really nice bag
A really nice bag and the bag alone is worth the money, a similar one from a hobby shop would cost a lot more

Great product the items that came in the bag were excellent however my daughter used the bag for school and it might have been a little heavy but due to how the strap attaches to the bag it pulled at the zip and the stitches came away leaving the bag unusable, I am going to sew it for her and tell her not to put too much in it from now on, but I am disappointed that the bag did not last that long.

Great value bundle
Great bag for artists and my crochet gear, I haven't managed to fill it to capacity yet as it can hold a lot. The art accessories and book and pencil wrap that came with it is now being used by my daughter, which she loves.
