Review: The oil gitfed by the gods.....Take note those lost souls yet to experience Lyrakis Oil...... - I spent a considerable amount of time reflecting on whether humanity had truly reached its pinnacle when I found myself writing a public review for olive oil. Not a spacecraft. Not a medical breakthrough. Olive oil. Yet here we are. This bottle arrived with all the understated confidence of a product that knows exactly what it is. It doesn't have Bluetooth. It doesn't connect to Wi-Fi. There is no companion app demanding a firmware update before I can drizzle it onto a salad. It simply pours out of the can and tastes excellent, as olive oil has apparently been doing successfully for several thousand years. The flavour is rich, smooth and pleasantly peppery, elevating bread, salads and roasted vegetables with an efficiency usually associated with elite military units. I briefly considered awarding four stars because the oil failed to provide life coaching, solve my mortgage, or explain why my lawnmower only starts when observed by a neighbour. However, withholding a star for features never advertised felt unreasonable. So five stars it is. If future archaeologists discover this review buried beneath the ruins of our civilisation, know this: the olive oil was good. Remarkably good. Good enough that someone voluntarily logged into desertcart to tell strangers about it. And frankly, that's about as high a compliment as modern society can offer and will be on my epitaph long after I am gone... Keen to see what others think about this remarkable substance that lubricates food.
Review: New harvest bottled March 2026 comparison Vs Italian lab tested EVOO bottled Nov 2025. - I always have a monthly supply of Extra Virgin Olive Oil on subscription. I've tried a few different growers over the years, this one and the GARCÍA DE LA CRUZ (Spanish) are both equally as good as each other. Genuine EVOO direct from their groves and of good quality. I use it for cooking baking etc but.... I do buy an Organic Italian EVOO online direct from a farm. That is used for dressing etc. It's unfiltered and third party tested for the Polyphenol content, you get the report when you buy their EVOO. So I thought I would compare the 2 oils to see what you're getting at the basic end compared to one at double the price. Although I say basic the Lyrakis EVOO and other online growers do offer a far superior product compared to the supermarket options. I would class those as very poor quality unless you're paying a very high premium. I also note that you should make sure any EVOO you buy is from the most recent harvest, they have a 2 year expiry on so you can tell when it was Harvested. Harvest is from October onwards depending on the olive variety, so as of May 2026 if it has an expiry date for 2026 or early 2027 you will know that it's been sat on a shelf 12+months, which is too long and you should buy a different one. Some people say that for the best EVOO you should opt for a single olive variety, but combining different varieties just gives different flavour profiles, so don't trouble yourself with this. The peppery kick in EVOO is from a compound called oleocanthal. Along with the many other compounds found in EVOO it has been shown to reduce inflammation and fight free radical damage. It gives that peppy kick and is found more in good quality EVOO and in the earliest harvest. This compound degrades quite quickly, EVOO doesn't get better with age. From 6-18 months the oils will loose a significant amount of their many beneficial compounds through oxidation. Hence why you should get it as fresh as you can. 2025/26 looks to have been a difficult year for growers and the polyphenol content is lower than previous years. (2024/25 +600mg) (2025/26 348mg) for my lab tested EVOO. The comparison: Both state they are from the early harvest, I know full well that my Italian EVOO is bottled early, I get it delivered in January and it's already lab tested. The Lyrakis EVOO expiry is 30/03/2028 so it was bottles March 2026. The Lyrakis looks lighter and much clearer. The Italian one is unfiltered and cloudy. The smells are very similar but the Lyrakis fails this year to have a strong fruity or grassy taste. It's there but it's just not as vibrant especially when I compare it to my Italian one. When it comes to that peppery kick, the Lyrakis does have a kick but it's subtle. My Italian EVOO gives a pleasant flavour then the oleocanthal hits your throat and you can't but cough from the pepperiness, it remains as a lasting kick for some time. Obviously I've drunk them straight, which unless you're unhinged or want to do a taste test comparison....or both, you wouldn't do. It's not a glass of wine, it's for cooking and dressing and it’s a bit like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Nissan. Both do the same job but one does it better than the other at a cost. So when it comes the recommending the Lyrakis EVOO....At the price it's definitely a good option. I won't be using it on salads and think i'l try the GARCÍA DE LA CRUZ EVOO also. If you have money to burn and want to cook with a better quality EVOO, go ahead and search online for the many Lab tested options. Though I feel it's definitely worth seeking out a quality EVOO for dressing, when it comes to cooking you can't go wrong with the Lyrakis Family Extra Virgiin Olive Oil but it’s still a Nissan not a Rolls. I hope you found this helpful

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is the harvesting process bird friendly? Not done by machine at night when they are in their nests?**
A: Hello,
regarding to your question, we'd like to inform you that the harvesting process takes place with absolute respect to nature and using all the traditional methods. That's why we can assure you that this process is carried out only during the day and exclusively with human hands. It is a very important issue and it is good for all olive growers around the world to pay attention to it. We remain at your disposal for any further questions.
eLyrakis

**Q: Acidity level not mentioned ?**
A: The acidity remains a mystery for years now. What it says on the front of the tin, is Intensity 02 which is unrelated to acidity. I know chemistry.

**Q: Is it a good idea to buy large quantities at a time > 1 litre because of rancidity over time?**
A: I use this olive oil all the time in cooking and salad dressings. Even so, a tin lasts around 4/5 months during which time the quality doesn’t suffer at all. Hope this helps

**Q: It says "acidity is very low" but how low. What are the numbers please?**
A: Sorry, most of the information on the tin is in Greek but, in any case, the table ‘nutritional declaration’ which has English does not carry acidity figures. If it’s of any help at all we buy this oil on a regular basis and have always been very happy with it.

A beautiful dark green and smooth oil. It’s pure and delicious with none of the acidic reaction you sometimes get from combined inferior oils. Without doubt, it’s the first cold pressed product.
