Our Number one Engine!
For 70 years Thomas the Tank Engine has had an impact on the hearts of millions around the world! Thomas was introduced in the second book of the Railway series titled "Thomas the Tank Engine" and became the most popular character in the Series. It was only a matter of time when Britt Alcroft would bring the railway series to life on the screen in 1984 and give Thomas his very own show. Since then, Thomas has become an extremely popular public figure on Television, movies, events, toys and much more. By 2003 Bachmann Trains brought Thomas and his friends into their line and has created many of his friends since then. Thomas has had many variations such as being featured in several sets, equipped with sound and a Metallic 70th anniversary Thomas will be released as well. Bachmann Trains has done an incredible job on the model of Thomas in making him look exactly how he does in the Television series whether it would be the classic model series or CGI series. A unique feature on Thomas is his moving eyes. It gives Thomas and his friends some more realism as their eyes move back and forth looking out on the tracks as they puff along. Shipping was very fast and I got Thomas a day early. Model railroaders, Thomas fans and train enthusiasts will have an amazing time with this model of Thomas. The model is fun, fast, accurate and these models are really built to last. Thomas will look great running along your layout while pulling some rolling stock or just puffing along by himself. This model of Thomas is gaurentteed to satisfy any modeler. Highly recommended, affordable price and a great purchase all together. There will be more reviews to come.

A hit with the the grandchildren
The locomotive runs well and the eyes move as it journeys along. It was not designed to pull heavy loads but chugs along with the Henrietta coach quite nicely. It should haul more coaches in the series without a problem. Its the only fun engine I have in my collection but is easily the favorite for my grandchildren.

great and recommend !
Thomas the Tank Engine is an anthropomorphised fictional steam locomotive in The Railway Series books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher, published from 1945. He became the most popular and famous character in the series, and is the titular protagonist in the accompanying television spin-off series Thomas & Friends.Thomas is a steam engine and has a number 1 painted on his side. All of the locomotives in The Railway Series were based on prototypical engines; Thomas has origins in a cast metal 0-6-0 Tank locomotive made by Stewart Reidpath (Essar, or S-R) in the late 40s. This locomotive was not based on the LBSCR London, Brighton and South Coast Railway E2 as once believed and portrayed by Hornby, but appears to be based on an LMS Fowler 0-6-0T (Jinty). Thomas first appeared in 1946 in the 2nd book in the series, Thomas the Tank Engine, and was the focus of the 4 short stories contained within. Thomas's best friends are Percy and Toby.In 1979, British writer/producer Britt Allcroft came across the books, and arranged a deal to bring the stories to life as the TV series Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends (later simplified to Thomas & Friends). The programme became an award-winning hit around the world, with a vast range of spinoff commercial products. this thomas is great eyes work, move splendidly. but i do have a problem there was something on thomas's face and i couldnt get it off and i came with multiple scratches as if it was used.

Thomas Lives another day.
Thomas MkII after the earlier (competitor model) got accidentally destroyed due to ingestion of a track pin... Solved post-XMAS mayhem after unexpected melt-down of older non-Bachman Thomas. (For a good example of this see Leo Kim on You-Tube video "Thomas and the Mad Bomber")Eye movement on the Bachman Thomas trains is a nice touch.Color, and finish is very good.Couplings are not a strength on these engines. They may not take rough handling so bear that in mind with very young children, they may not hold up.But train is a little slow and fussy on track conditions. Price was very fair for an HO electric rail engine. Like all things Thomas though, you won't be stopping at Thomas... you've got Percy, Diesel, Toby, Gordon and all the other Thomas friends to help empty you wallet! Recommended.

Cute, but doesn't work and is OVERPRICED!
I bought this train even though some of the reviews were bad. It was overpriced for what it is, but I knew Poppa and his grandson would love it! Problem with mine was that there is no give in the wheels. They are so straight that the train can not make it around a very wide turn even at a very slow speed. Hops right off track every time. I contacted Bachman since no one else mentioned this as a problem, but I never head back. The company I bought the train from on Amazon refunded my money quickly, but really I just wanted the train to work. If anyone has had this problem and knows if there is a way to fix it or if I just got a lemon, please let me know because as of now, this train is useless.
