Retractable Garden Hose Reel 5/8" 90FT Auto Rewind Wall Mount

No issues. Our back porch is really high off of the ground. My wife wanted a water hose for all of her plants on the back porch. So far this has been perfect for her. Easy for her to handle. Built very well.

After years and years of trying many different hose reels and hose holders, I think we have finally found a good one. This hose reel is extremely heavy duty and holds a 100 foot hose, which we need to be able to reach our entire backyard and side yard. The only negative comment I have so far is the sprayer is 100% plastic and I’m not sure it’s going to last. But we shall see. We spent a lot more money on this hose and reel combination and any other we’ve bought in the past, but so far it looks like it’s worth it . For this price I think a good sprayer should either be included or not sent at all. Is it me cheap in the product if it does break in the first season like I’m guessing it might, but hopefully and maybe I’ll be wrong overall I recommend this product. I try to do as many reviews as possible For both good and bad products and this one I even took the time to take pictures and a video to share because those of you that spent a lot of time in your yard and need a good hose and reel. So far this is the best we’ve found yet it comes with a 5 foot hose to connect to the Spicket, so you could put your real up to 5 feet away from the Spicket And we have done that in this case because it’s a little bit large and I don’t want it in the way of people walking by on our pool deck. 5/12/2025> updated to 4 stars after receiving a full replacement unit under TWO YEAR warranty. TO BE FAIR HERE, evidently with my original issues & review below a year ago I did not follow the proper procedure to notify the manufacturer of my issues through Amazon? I called the support number I thought Amazon had listed. Their e-mail communications (I found months later) offering to send a complete replacement unit were in my spam e-mail unread (my error). I had called the company direct, evidently you need to work through Amazon via e-mail to send your address. Once I responded via e-mail to their e-mail offer with my info I had a complete brand new unit on my doorstep in a few days. The bottom line is the unit has a two year warranty and they stood behind it. That was the right move here as the unit was defective. I am hopeful this one holds up better. I will probably just use the replacement stainless steel 8’ connector hose I bought for it after the first hose sprung a leak. I will use this new replacement unit for a while and update if I have issues or it works okay after a year. **********XXXXX My Original review of the first unit is here for reference>>>>>>. I thought I found the perfect hose reel solution for my wife to use to water plants & pots scattered across our rear patio area of 50-70 ‘ that mimics what I use in the garage for my air compressor hose. A smooth & easy way to uncoil hose up to 90’ and have it recoil easily & quickly. I bought the Giraffe AW40 5/8th”x 90’ in May of 2024 with that thought . NOT SO. Within a couple of months the intake hose sprung a pin hole leak (see photo)then multiples. The mechanism for rewinding is not consistent or reliable ( see video) when pulling out hose and trying to let it recoil back. Sometimes you can see the hose carrier part (white part in gear) freeze & not move back and forth as it should to evenly coil from side to side. Sounds like some clanking / noise too. We have never just let it go, we always walk it back from where it has been stretched out. It rarely is out past 50’. I initially e-mailed Giraff customer support on leaking hose….nothing back. For the purchase price of $169.00 it is not what I expected. I would look elsewhere as others have similar comments.

I am revising my review to 5 stars as a result of the response and great support I received from Grace at Giraffe. She was genuinely concerned about my experience and the product quality. Products occasionally have minor flaws and when Grace took control of my order, she was great. I am now a very happy and satisfied customer. I will not hesitate to buy Giraffe products specifically because of their support and service. I bought this item on June 27, 2025 very excited to have an automatic retractable hose. I mounted it immediately and have used it every day until August 5 (9 DAYS AFTER THE 30 DAY WARRANTY) when the hose itself blew up like an anaconda that just ate 5 rats. 5 big bulges in the hose, and then it split and leaked uncontrollably. I filed a product quality issue with Giraffe, but they haven't even responded. BUYERS BE WARE!

After buying one of these hose reels and liking it, I bought about 9 months later. When I bought my first one, the reviews were higher. When buying the second one, I noticed they had trended downwards a bit. Well, it has been about 2.5 3 years of light use on my newer purchase and when I went to use it, water was pouring out of the bottom. Knowing it was out of warranty, I took it apart to see what was broken. Boy, is this thing designed to be disposable. The hose attaches to the reel with a plastic elbow (which had cracked). That elbow is secured to another plastic sleeve for the water inlet with a plastic c-clip. No standard, off-the-shelf parts here. And of course, not available from Giraffe Tools, either. Additionally, the hose is attached to the elbow using a compression fitting so you'd have to buy the entire hose for a failed plastic elbow. Using all plastic parts for the critical components does not make for a durable product. That, in and of itself, isn't a big deal if the product were designs it to be serviceable and replacement parts are available. That's not the case here. I contemplated ways to fix it until I noticed Costco sells an automatic reel which ADVERTISES it has a user-replaceable hose. It was longer and cheaper and is backed by a Costco lifetime warranty...I decided to cut my losses as it seems most hose reels on Amazon are a crap-shoot at least that's the picture I get from reading the reviews. TL;DR, It worked great...until it didn't. Important parts are all plastic. These parts are not standard items that can be purchased at a hardware store and are also not available from the company. For the price they're charging, I would look elsewhere. UPDATE: The first reel I bought kicked the bucket in the same fashion at about the 3.5 year mark. The only difference between the first and second reels I purchased was that the second one, which failed after 2.5 years was mounted outside whereas the first was mounted in my garage. I guess the indoor mounting prolonged the life by about a year...definitely avoid.

Last year I purchased this same brand only the one that is 100’ long, it had the smaller hose, It takes care of my front yard. This year I purchased the 90’ retractable hose and this one has the larger hose. I LOVE them. I am listing the pro/cons and advice for both. The 90’ hose is for my back yard, It is much harder for me to pull it all out, but both take effort to pull out. PRO’S: You will never have to roll up by hand your hose again, it delivers a great amount of water, CON’S: both hose’s will kink when watering and when this happens the water will completely shut off. Both size’s of the hose take ALOT of effort to pull out, but I have a lot of health issues so ADVICE: When rolling the hose back into the unit, you will need to keep your hand on the hose to keep control, otherwise it rolls up too fast. When doing this, I keep the water on, and I spray the hose where my hand is on the hose as it is retracting, this will keep the hose clean and help keeping the internal area from getting all the dirt/grass that sticks on the hose. Last bit of advice: Make sure it is mounted securely, Our back yard hose is attached on the side of our fireplace, the hose in the front of house, has pulled away from the house. My husband finally attached a board to the front of our house and attached the real to the board. If it pulls off again, he plans on getting a square deck support post, digging down, then using cement to set the post, and then mount the hose to that. All in all, this is a GREAT retractable hose, and I use it every day during the summer. I also highly recommend this to anyone looking to get this hose.

I don't usually write reviews but this one was warranted. Be very careful buying and installing this product. I installed it into an 8x8 fence post so did not need the plastic anchors. The hose and case are quite heavy and Installing into a less sturdy surface may be challenging. I used the drill hole template at the back of the instructions. Taped it to the post, got it level, and drilled at the hole marks. Easy. Then I took off the mounting bracket that is held on to the hose mounting case with a pin. Had to bend the pin on the end to get it out. Put the bracket up to the holes. Not even close. Both height and width were wrong. Come on, really? Then I just drilled new holes by holding the bracket to the fence post. Then started screwing in the bolts with a 1/2" ratchet. This was good for about half of the length of the bolt. Then the bolts get so close to the bracket that you can no longer use a ratchet. Again, really? Went to the open ended wrench and with tiny turns was able to get all 4 bolts installed. Each time the wrench touched the bracket it ate away parts of the plastic. Not a big deal but indicative of the quality of the materials. Finally got the hose case mounted on the bracket, reinstalled the pin, bent the pin back out so it won't slip and connected the 6' line to a shortened piece of garden hose and to my spigot. Yes, your mounting location must be less than 6' to the spigot. I now see that in the description but it is not clear that is what is meant by the description "Giraffe Retractable Garden Hose Reel 100ft 1/2-Inch * 94ft+6ft Hose". Another limitation that should have been more clear on the product description. Upon use, it seems OK. Once I got the hose inside the casing loosened up to actually extract it is working as expected. I do like the fact the whole hose housing pivots close to 180 degrees. It is easy to pull hose out and retract hose. So far, my only issue with use is that once you pull the hose out for use, let's say 50', then decide you want another 20', you have to totally retract the hose to the beginning then pull out again. If that is the case, that is terrible. Maybe I am doing something wrong on this and will try some more. My concern now will be the Florida sun. How long will weak plastic last in the heat, humidity and sun of FLA? I may put some kind of cover over the housing to keep the sun off of it and maybe it will last longer. Conclusion: this could be an OK product, time will tell. Installation was easy but not as indicated in the instruction template. Will it survive in FLA?

This item replaced a Stanley retractable hose reel that broke after years of daily use. This one seems more substantially built, so I am optimistic that it will have a long life like the Stanley (which does not seem to be available any longer). I mounted this one on a brick wall and did not use the included hardware. Instead, I used 3” long 1/4” Tapcon masonry anchors and pre drilled 5/16” holes using a hammer drill. Very secure and avoided drilling even bigger holes for the questionable plastic anchor inserts that came with the unit. Plus, the 6.9” vertical spacing of the mounting holes would not have allowed me to stay entirely on the surface of the brick with the included inserts—I would have gotten into mortar joints top or bottom. The Tapcon solution put smaller holes entirely into brick. I will update over time, but everything works perfectly thus far. My wife loves it even though it takes more force to pull out the hose than our old reel. New versus old, and strong design, I think.

Pas encore installé car acheté en fin de saison. Ce sera pour le printemps prochain. Le produit me semble solide. On verra à l'usage mais je suis satisfait de la qualité pour le moment.

Hose retracts and works fine however weight of hose filled with water has caused plastic mounting to sag with sun exposure. Would not recommend this design for the 100ft hose UPDATED: Fantastic customer service. Followed up on my review and replace unit Seller deserves 5Star based on desire to make it right

Came as advertised

Sometimes gets stuck when reeling in. It is fairly heavy so make sure what ever it is you have it attached to is strong and/or reinforced. It is a smaller gage hose but has lots of pressure. The spray nozzle works well, the auto reel works good other than Sometimes having to give it a little tug to get it to continue to roll in. It is very easy to install, also easy to take off the mount to bring in for storage.
