Easy activation, many plans available
The SIM card was easy to activate and many plans available. Activation may automatically enable the auto renewal but using the Speedtalk account page it is easy to disable the auto renewal using the contact us page. It is equally easy to change plans to add extra minutes, texts or data using the refill page. Just make sure you ordered the correct SIM card to begin with. There are different SIM cards for phones, GPS or hotspots with different data limits.

Service and support is good.
Service and support is good. However, I was unable to use the service as they don’t offer static/fixed IPs.That’s something you need to consider if you want a static/fixed IP four IoT in the field.

Difficult activation process, even just for data use -wants your address, email and phone. No!
Would not recommend at all, for anyone just wanting data used only, even if just to try the included 300 mb of data on the card. Speedtalk requires registration (name, address, email and even phone #). I only wanted to try the 300 mb of data, and that should be 100% without any registration of customer info.....Should be able to just enter SIM card # online (website), then set APN settings on phone, and woila (sp?). Such was not the case though. I'd def recommend the eIOT club card, which is $5 and comes with 300 mb of data and requires no personal info, email or phone # at all. I've used them 3x now and will now use only them going fwd. Thx

I needed a portable hotspot and this works great for that.
I had an old Netgear MR1100 (unlocked) sitting unused from another project and wanted to make a cheap portable hot spot. For $5, it was cheap enough to experiment with to see if I could it work with the old router. I popped the SIM in, followed the instructions to set the APN Setting, and it worked! I don't push a lot of data with this, so I can't speak to speeds, etc. I am using this for a remote IoT project that needs to report data periodically. I found this to be a very cost effective way to get a remote data connection.

Credit card number HACKED -- TWICE
UPDATE 4/27/2023After the below credit card number was hacked, I switched it to another credit card that I never use. It went for a few months with the basic monthly charge which was the only charge on that card. Nobody else had that card number for any reason and the card wasn't used for anything else. Then a couple days ago I got three quick charges out of Texas for over $1K each. I now have no doubt that somebody at Speedtalk is selling credit card numbers to scammers.UPDATE 1/10/2023 When I did the long call with the guy in India to activate the SIM, I used one of my spam Visa cards to activate the account. I have a few extra credit cards through an institution that has highly aggressive fraud controls. This particular card had not been used since July 2022 and the card itself has never left my files. I do not carry these spam cards with me nor use them for anything but online purchases from questionable sources.Today I was notified that that specific credit card number had been used to attempt to make large purchases within the last two days in California and Illinois. I live in Virginia. It was also used in an attempt to establish an Apply Pay account. All of these were declined. The only deduction that can be drawn is that SpeedTalk customer service sold my credit card number to scammers.UPDATE 12/23/2022 Received an e-mail from SpeedTalk reseller offering to refund the purchase price of this SIM. The e-mail made no mention of any corrective action and I noticed that the Amazon listing still says it's for 400MB per month. I didn't bother taking them up on the refund. It's only $5 and the SIM does work in my tablet. I just wish they would fix the issues, not just refund $5.ORIGINAL REVIEWFirst -- when you go online to activate this SIM it is only for 300MB per month, not the 400MB as advertised. I need this only for emergency use in a tablet so I went ahead and activated it.Online activation would NOT accept any credit card. It kept saying the cards were invalid. I did a chat, then a LONG call with India in which the guy entered all the same data I had entered online and it went through fine.Once installed in the tablet the set-up process is slow, convoluted, and really frustrating. It took a long chat session and a call and lots of tweaks of settings to finally make a connection. I did let it set for a day, as they said, before I started this saga. The other guy then did a reset at their end and it finally activated.I've used other sims in this tablet and they all activated and connected immediately. This one was a real pain. But, it works and it's cheap.
