Great printer but it is only compatible with 2.4 Ghz on your router!
I really like this Canon printer that uses toner. No more hassles with ink drying up. The printer is compact and great for home use. I had trouble connecting the printer to my computer. I researched it and discovered that this printer only works on the router's setting of 2.4 Ghz. I had to change my router setting from 5 Ghz to 2.4 Ghz and then the setup was easy. I highly recommend this Canon printer!

nice printer, poor install software and manual
Until recently I was using a canon inkjet printer with all of the typical cartridge issues and costs. After it finally died I decided to give up color printing and replace with a simple laser printer. This canon fits the bill. Print well and page rate is fast. Works fine with wifi, although an ethernet option would have been nice. I only just received the unit but it works well and am hopeful it'll work better than inkjet. Now the semi-bad. The install manual is a waste of space. It's not hard to setup but it should be clearer. First step is a hard connect to your computer using the USB. You'll need to go to the Canon USA website and search support for printer name. Download the driver package for your operating system (mine was win11). There's a tab on the support site with WIFI guidance. It should be pretty straightforward after that. It's a bit disappointing the drivers didn't download directly from microsoft and the software is a bit old-fashioned. I used the network setting tool first and then to the ufrii directory to install the driver. However, I suspect you can just run setup in the bootup directory in one step rather than two.

What a bad printer
It looks nice. It came with a CD though. Do you remember CDs? They used to come with computers a really long time ago. Modern computers don't have them anymore. It came with a few sheets of paper. Not really a manual, mostly pictures. The only useful thing it was the advice that the mac driver probably wouldn't work. I tried plugging the printer into the computer I wanted to print from via USB. My computer saw that it was there, and that it was a printer! I could only print plain ascii text, and it didn't work. Nothing ever printed. I do have a really old CD drive. It has USB-A, and modern computers have USB-C. The CD is only Windows or Mac. So I eventually found an adapter combination that would let the mac power the CD drive so that I could read it! My first trip through the software produced absolutely no results. So I started over with a different USB-A to USB-C adapter and got it to work! I had to download a driver like the manual said. So now I can print...from a computer I don't need or want to print from. The ubuntu forums say that drivers exist, and it can be made to work, but they also say that the driver are gone from canon, so I have no idea if I'll be able to get this printer working directly. I might have to write a script to wrap lpr with a call to ssh to print my documents. All in all, the printer itself seems nice, though I have only printed a few pages so far as amazon only gave me the printer and the toner and not the paper I ordered, apparently I get paper tomorrow. The actual setup and administration of this printer is terrible. Now that it is working, I notice that it isn't very good at printing the letter capital H in italics. It looks fine in the PDF, but won't print. Actually, if I put multiple italic H characters in, most of them print. But most isn't really good enough... EDIT It took three days, but I finally got the print driver to work so that I can print. It turns out the driver installed from canon neglects to mark libcupsimage2-dev as a required package. CUPS prints an error about the driver called before the driver that errors out which is incredibly misleading. As for print quality, it doesn't compare to the HP Laserjet M806 that I usually use at work. But for $97.25 it is more than acceptable. It is also noticeably cheaper than an M806.

Good printer at a good price, but installing it should be easier
Very good price for a laser printer. And so far it works well, and I like the fact that it works with Wi-Fi so I don't have to have it wired to the computer. However I am only giving it four stars because of two things: When you get the ready printer for use, there are protective styrofoam and plastic pieces inside the printer that have to be removed. And the instructions ostensibly show you how to do that, but in my opinion the instructions are not clear, and that made hooking the printer up very stressful, because I was afraid I wasn't doing that right, because the instructions were not clear enough. Although I got it right, I imagine that many people might not. The problem is they just used drawings instead of photographs, and what they really need is a video on YouTube or on their own website to show you exactly how to prepare the printer for printing. Furthermore, the printer was not plug and play like the last three printers I bought were. When I went through the process of setting it up with the software, it didn't work and I had to call Canon. The Windows computer just was not finding the printer even though I followed the instructions, and the fact that I followed the instructions was confirmed by the tech support guy on the phone. So he had to troubleshoot it and he found the problem and we got it to work. Whoever, in my opinion, one shouldn't have to call tech support to hook up a standard device like this. Basically Canon failed to make the software work as "Plug and Play” as every other printer I've ever had did. So while it seems to be a very nice printer and a good price, can it needs to work on its software and instruction pages.

Great little machine
I was able to connect this printer using chat gbt. The actual instructions did not work for me and they included an instruction cd which I could not use. With chat it was easy and the print quality is excellent . I can print using WiFi with my Mac and my Apple phone !

Took forever to get working
I'm a IT and took over an hour to get this printer working. **Even following the instructions on the manual didn't include the piece of orange plastic that you had to take out that was inside the printer to get the toner to read** - Key information for people having problems with this printer. (Take out the toner first, and then there should be a orange plastic there that blocks it from reading). I had to connect the USB to the back of my desktop in order for it to read correctly and the supplied USB cable is hilariously too short, so make sure you use a (high quality) USB extender that will carry enough power and won't corrupt the data signal (like those china ones). You won't need the CD nor will you need download the drivers if you have internet connection (Im using Windows 10, but Windows 7 and up has automatic driver downloads as soon as you plug in the USB). Don't change any print settings on the driver cause this seem to make the printer upset too. But you can test and see what works out. If the printer starts acting up cause you change the settings on the driver you can use device manager to uninstall it and reinstall a fresh one that is unmodified. Last but not least...the wireless printing doesn't work. Like at all. I follow the instructions on the official Canon website and use the Network_Setting_Tool in the official driver package to enable wireless and connect to my WPS (as well as manual connect). No dice. Printer just don't wanna connect to wireless. So forget about any AirPrinting what so ever, its not gonna do it. Best thing about this printer is that it was apparently on sale for $99 and it used toner (toner does not dry out like those silly ink cartridge's which WILL if you don't use it all up fast enough, which most home user don't). It also printers extremely fast, a whole page comes smoothly through the motor without delay, I would guess about 1 page per ~1.50s but don't quote me on that I didn't use a timer. And my main reason for buying, it has aftermarket toners that is 1/3 the price when you do have to replace it which will bring down the operational cost drastically (again toners don't dry out!). I got a toner printer because I don't print enough, so that might not even matter anyway. I just don't want my ink drying out like every other ink cartridge printer I had. With all that said, at the time of purchase there was a toner printer that was slightly cheaper and I would have gotten that instead knowing the difficulties I had with this printer. I bought it because it was Canon, but this one is definitely one of the jankier ones.

Great product! Download the drivers from Canon and skip the CD!
No idea why some people said the setup was difficult! Other than learning how to unpackage and remove all of the orange tabs and stuff, the initial setup was really easy! I followed a video on YouTube to see how to properly unpack the printer as that part was a little confusing at first. This printer definitely saves on ink usage. The tray holds a lot of paper too, which is great! I just recommend to not use the CD when setting up the drivers for the product (I didn't even open it), I just downloaded the updated drivers from the Canon website instead. I was able to quickly set up the printer through my iPhone and also on my Windows 11 computer, with no issues at all! Very awesome product, printing quality is wonderful and VERY FAST and reliable!

Superior to inkjets if you do not print color, troublesome installation
After destroying my last two inkjet printers trying to clear clogged printheads, I decided to go with a cheap laser as I rarely print color at home. Setup was not as easy as I hoped. The included disk never started the install program even when I ran the .exe file myself. I downloaded the Windows 10 installation file from Canon and ran it, this created a folder with the needed files. After connecting with the included USB cable I ran the program to set the wireless system on the printer and to my surprise it never asked me for the WIFI password, it got it from my WIFI connected computer. Installing the drivers on Windows 10 was a headache. I followed the instructions to the letter several times and the printer was listed as installed and working but the computer could not connect. I deleted the printer and reinstalled it from the Windows wizard instead of the Canon software, a few seconds later I was printing. The default "General" print quality is really draft. Switching to "Publications" quality results in very high quality text and graphics at a much lower speed and increased toner use. This is too slow for a busy office but acceptable for low volume printing. There is no feed tray for envelopes or special paper, this may be a nuisance for an office but for home it is not a problem. Overall I am very satisfied with this printer, at the rate I print it should last years and with no nozzles to clog it is a better alternative to inkjets if color printing is not important. Update on installation on Windows 10 I tried to install this on a second computer and the Windows wizard failed. However the downloaded software worked this time even though it failed on the first computer. This is therefore my suggested approach to installation: 1. Download the installation file from Canon and run it, it will create a folder with the needed files. If you are setting it up for wireless use, open the Network Setting Tool folder, run the CNAN1STK.exe file and follow the prompts. 2. Go to the UFRII folder, find the setup.exe file and run it. It installs the software and the printer shows up in Windows. If the printer works then you are done. 3. If the printer does not work after step 2 then go to Devices and Printers, delete the printer then click on "Add a printer". If the wireless settings are properly configured or you are using a USB cable, the printer should be listed as available, follow the prompts. Hope this helps those who cannot get it to work.

Compra impulsiva

Good product.
working just fine. No issues. But it was slightly costlier on Amazon than another platform which I noticed a while after. Delivery period was also too irritating. Really disappointed about the latency in delivery.

Impossible to set up
You can only download with a CD and laptop which is not identifiable on the Amazon site. Then they want you to pay for shipping to send it back!
