Galerians - Rion [DVD]

when flipping though the channels i stopped on mtv2 and heard heavy metal song playing and i thought the animation was part of a music video, but then as i watched further, it kept going on into more storyline and i realized i was watching something that made me think i was watching the cut scenes of a video game (shocker there, huh?) that's exactly what this movie is. they made a playstation 2 game, galerians: ash, which i haven't had the opportunity to play yet. then they took the concept and made a movie out of it.the movie pretty much plays out like a fast paced bloody version of dragon ball z battles. you have genetically engineered people battling one another in search for a girl who has the key to destroying a psycho computer who's AI has made it think it was a god. it had some interesting villians who all had different mind powers such as telekinesis and teleportation.the soundtrack is a great compilation of today's heavy metal. the original japanese version doesn't include this. the english version makes it somewhat obvious the voices of the characters were dubbed, but it is worth watching this way just for the music. i was completely surprised that the soundtrack wasn't advertized more. before i stumbled on the movie, i wouldn't have ever heard the songs like 'hate in me' from godhead.if you are a fan of either heavy metal or anime or both, this is a worthy pick to watch.

If you played the video game Galerians then this movie will make more sense for you, but it does a very good job of allowing pure newcomers to follow along as well. It is a bit older, and pretty hard to find (took me forever after seeing it on Sci-Fi 2 back in the day...), but if you consider yourself an Anime fan this would be a good title to look into. Good action and story, but some graphics are a bit choppy. A good 4 out of 5.

This unique computer generated film is like all of the cutscenes pulled from a game and made into a film that you wish they had a game for. It's a good sci-fi/cyberpunk thriller with two music soundtracks. Yeah, two. The original Japanese theme music gives a darker, almost survival horror vibe to the movie while the U.S. remixing of metal and rock tracks have a more energetic pace. Give the U.S. soundtrack a listen, I've gotta hunt down the original next!

I've loved this movie since the first time it came out when I was a mere munchkin. Ah, watching it back then I had no idea what was going on--and I dont think my mom really understood some of the more violent aspects of the movie--but I had been wanting to watch this thing again for years. The time has finally come...

Can only recommend to fans of the game, or people who like their movies pretty weird! For what it is though (a cgi film retelling of the first game) it's pretty fun though.

That same movie that intrigued me several, several years ago... Angry and disgruntled characters trying to find their purpose, lots of yelling with the most average of graphics.

good movie. But it need more my stuff to the story make sentence.But to the thanks to the games.it made the story a little bit better. But i don't like the ending to galerians ash. but the first game was better.

The CGI's are not exactly the ABSOLUTE greatest, but the movie itself is awesome.I think it you haven't played the game it may be a BIT more difficult to follow along with, but even the it's still an excellent movie and Ihighly recommend it to anyone into sci-fi with a darker theme.
