Good compression, slim support
I’ll start out by saying I'm not a child, but a 30yr old with very small feet, size 5 women’s. So the sizing in my opinion is not made for smaller children at all.I recently had ankle surgery and I was using ace bandage wraps inside of the walking boot for compression but also cushion. They sucked, and kept unraveling at the seems. So I found this, and the quality is amazing! I’ve been using it every day for a few weeks and it doesn’t show wear at all. It’s pretty good as far as compression goes, I wouldn’t say it’s extremely supportive. It also doesn’t fit in shoes very well, and it’s not very comfortable to walk with while in a shoe. It only fits in a couple of my pairs, definitely not all shoe types, it’s too thick. Because of the material it does make your feet sweat, so I wear socks. It says washable but I haven’t tried yet.Overall it’s a good buy, I’d recommend it.

Fantastic support at long last!
My daughter rolls her ankle every couple of months, it seems, and we’ve gone through countless wraps and braces to give her support while her ankle heals a little. Wraps come undone, and she had little success finding a brace that fits properly. We gave it one last effort to find suitable support, and as soon as she tried this one on and tightened the straps, she was a happy girl. Finally, she had support! She likes that she can still move around well but doesn’t have to worry about the straps loosening or excess material bunching. Best of all, she can adjust it independently rather than relying on me. I’m happy to do it, but as a teenager, I’m sure she has more important things to do than come to me when she needs her brace adjusted. She wore it for a couple days and was able to begin her strengthening exercises much sooner than normal, something our doctor requires if she’s going to use a brace. Temporary support is okay, but relying on it for too long will worsen the problem instead of improving it. This brace made that possible, as no time was spent fussing with ill-fitting materials.

Best I could find for a child
My daughter (9) sprained her ankle and needed something to stabilize her ankle after she was off crutches.Pros: I like that this is easy to get on and off. It definitely keeps her ankle from wobbling. Perfect size for her age. She said it was pretty comfortable.Cons: Limited with what shoes you can wear with it since it adds a layer of bulk. She wore slip-ons and that seemed to do the trick. Also, since it is not cotton, it can make your foot sweat on hotter days.Overall: I would buy again.. Kid sizes are so hard to find that actually work.. This is worth the money to try!

Sturdy Children's Ankle Brace
We purchased 2 of these ankle braces 4 months ago for my 10 year old daughter. She started wearing these when she was in a size 3 shoe and they were a close enough fit to use on a daily basis while still big enough to allow some room for growth. With her latest growth spurt, she's now a size 5 and they fit perfectly. I think we may be able to continue using these through size 6, but anything larger than that may be too tight to pull these braces on and off. The smallest size brace that her doctor had available was an adult small, which she was miserable in as it pinched and bunched up all around her foot. We are both very happy with this purchase. The brace is made of a very sturdy material that is soft enough to be worn all day if needed. With the adjustable velcro straps, we can adjust them as needed to find the perfect level of support and comfort for her foot size. The brace stays in place and doesn't bunch up in her shoe the way others have. The velcro straps stay in place and don't need to be readjusted throughout her activities. What is really nice is that the brace can be machine washed and hung to dry. They've been washed repeatedly over the last few months and each time they come out looking good as new. We haven't run into any issues with shrinking, loss of elasticity, or unusual fabric wear with washing. My daughter is very active and feels she can keep up with everyone else with minimal discomfort when wearing these braces. While she is only supposed to wear them when she is being active, they are comfortable enough that she sometimes forgets she's even wearing them and will leave them on all day at school. They do make her shoes fit a little snugger, which is to be expected, so we compensate by using a wider shoe or loosening her laces more than usual.I highly recommend this product for any child who has issues with ankle injuries.

Buyer Beware - If this product doesn't work for you, you can't return it.
My 11-year old daughter who competes in gymnastics is recovering from a bad sprain after being in a cast for 4 weeks and a boot for 4 additional weeks, and we are supposed to either tape her ankle or have her wear a lace-up ankle brace through meet season. I have not been able to find a lace-up brace small enough for her foot (she wears a size 2) so I ordered this online, since it says it's for kids, approximately up to age 12. My daughter is small for her age, so being 11, I thought this should work. This did not help her at all because while the brace is adjustable, we could not get it to compress tightly enough on her ankle to provide support. Our doctor recommended getting a customized lace-up ankle brace since we can't find an off-the-shelf product small enough, and she will be fitted for one this afternoon. I'm also disappointed that this item is not returnable, since we received it Tuesday evening, tried it on Wednesday before practice and realized it wouldn't work, and on Thursday I attempted to return it, only to find out it's not eligible for return.
