This foam track bed works great, is less expensive than cork, and holds up much better.My cork strips keep cracking and breaking, especially after a year or two. This foam bed stays flexible, and is easier to work with. I highly recommend it.

this stuff went down nice and easily for my N scale layout. but beyond that, i see it being nothing but a hassle as time goes on. it's too spongy. if you don't plan on gluing your track to it, do not buy this stuff. using nails just depresses the sponge and makes for a bad train run. and like others have said. ballasting will be a disaster as time goes on, it will crack when you go to clean the track because of how spongey this stuff is. I'm going to end up pulling all this stuff up and using cork. luckily I don't have a huge layout. so it wont be too big of a hassle to change over.
