Old but wonderful book, second time I have bought it.
Highly recommended for anyone starting a smallholding. This writer is justifiably famous for getting people started.

A vade mecum for all homesteaders.
One of my all-time favourite books on self-suffiency and small scale farming. Well-written and beautifully illustrated by Sally Seymour, to my mind this is a better version than the later colour illustrated version. John Seymour is almost as outspoken as William Cobbett and this only adds to the appeal to me. No political correctness here, he tells it like it really is! A rattlin’ good read!

A good read
Love this book, its a real self sufficiency book that focuses on animal husbandry and veggie growing etc. Really nice to browse through, it was first written in the1970s and I love the way its been laid out etc. I certainly have no intention of raising and slaughtering my own animals but its interesting to read about it (you never know it may be a useful skill to learn!).

Best book ever
This is an amazing book for anyone wanting to live the good life free of additives and pesticides in their food. I had a small holding with goats, hen's, Bantams, Geese as well as growing all the family's food many years ago, this book was bought for me and it was invaluable and became pretty dog eared from constant use Hence buying it again. Money well spent.

good but missing pages
Good book although some of the descriptions are not 100% clear for the technicallike mysef. Having said that, there is an absolute wealth of info which means it is great value.Just noticed though that my book is missing pages 65 to 80 and it is a few years old so no chance of sending it back!:(

Feels like a different era
This book was mentioned in Novel on the Hill, and I was intrigued to see how deeply sufficiency worked. Clearly devotion, effort and diligence is required.I may donate the book to the village museum as it delete a bygone era. Interesting reading.
