## Description

Polycarbonate sheet combines high impact and temperature resistance with optical clarity and can be utilized for secondary glazing behind existing glazing for economical protection against breakage or intrusion. Polycarbonate sheet can be cut, sawn, drilled and milled by using standard workshop equipment without the risk of cracking and breakage and is therefore an excellent candidate for fabricating a wide range of indoor applications such as machine guards etc. Polycarbonate sheet can be easily thermoformed into complex parts while retaining its excellent properties necessary for demanding applications such as vandal proof street furniture. Polycarbonate sheet may be decorated using a wide variety of modern techniques such as painting and screen printing. Unlike most thermoplastics, polycarbonate can undergo large plastic deformations without cracking or breaking. As a result, it can be processed and formed at room temperature using sheet metal techniques, such as forming bends on a brake. Even for sharp angle bends with a tight radius, no heating is generally necessary. This makes it valuable in prototyping applications where transparent or electrically non-conductive parts are needed, which cannot be made from sheet metal Light transmission Transparent Polycarbonate sheet have excellent light transmission, dependent of thickness between 84 - 87%. Fire performance Polycarbonate sheet has good fire behavior characteristics. Lexan sheet does not contribute significantly to the spread of fire or to the generation of toxic gases. I tried this 1/32 material for replacement lenses for my 10 yr old badly hazed lenses on solar spot lights. The 1/32 polycarbonate is easily cut with scissors without cracks or crazing and is tough enough for the job. This product is nice quality with protective film on both sides, scratchless and clear as can be.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do dry erase markers work on this for an impromptu whiteboard?**
A: Dry erase markers works on the Lexan Sheet - Polycarbonate - 24 x 24 which I purchased. Just tested it and it wipes off.  Marked a corner on both sides and left it on for about 5 minutes then wiped it off with paper towel, did it again and wiped it off with the dry eraser.  Just make sure you are using dry eraser markers. Hopes that helps.

**Q: What do you use to cut it?**
A: I cut a sheet with the plastic cutting wheel on a Dremel (EZ476) but I got a lot of melting if I didn't keep the wheel moving. When I went back around with a 60 grit Dremel sanding mandrel (part number 407 and 408), the results were fantastic, no melting and the wheel ate through some pretty generous over hang in seconds.

**Q: The description is confusing: " one side has printing. the other side is clear/frosted and hard to see".  is it really "clear protective film"?**
A: This particular Lexan Sheet is clear, not frosted nor printing on it. It comes with protective film on both faces of the sheet to avoid scratches and other minor issue that might damage while transporting it, which will need to be peel off eventually. Not safe for laser cutting.

**Q: Does this have UV protection so it doesn't yellow in sunlight?**
A: UV protection is dependant on additives / coatings added during manufacture. Contact the supplier for UV rating.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic material to work with!

Used this to make templates to work with slab clay for form building and it was a fantasic material choice! I can't wait to order more for another project. Advice to beginners with this material: 1) you can cut this with a jig saw, band saw or Table saw 2) if using a table saw USE A ZERO CLEARANCE PLATE. I didn't and it scared me to death every time the blade grabbed the sheet. It makes a very loud popping sound. I also clamped a board to my saw fence; the sheet I bought was thin enough to want to wander under it 3) Take it slow but deliberate cuts otherwise it leaves a weird edge at the kerf. It was a great purchase and interesting material to work with. Arrived perfectly square but just a hair under 12" x 12". I imagine it was probably just due to blade kerf at the time they broke the larger sheet down to sell the 12" square sheets. Material is solid quality and seems very durable!
