Weak performance... There is better out there
Weak performance. Does not seem to be 1200 lumens...Upgraded mine with a Modlite OKW Dual Fuel Light Head... the Modlite head has about 4 times the output in very concentrated beam. Expensive lesson learned.

The best you can buy
What can I say about Surefire lights? They've been through hell and back on many, many battle rifled on deployments to places you don't wanna go - and have survived.Yeh, it hurts to buy a $300 flashlight, and another $100+ for an end cap with a remote switch. But if you're depending on your light to work every time, in a hostile environment 2000 miles from home with the lives of you and your soldiers on the line, then it's money well spent. So do YOU need this light? I don't know. You can buy twenty cheapie Chinese lights that stop working when you accidentally bump it against the car door getting your case out. You can buy two or three Olights that will probably work til the suck gets real. You could also spend almost as much on a Streamlight that might or might not be just as tough.Evaluate your needs. If you're LARPing or airsofting, you probably don't need a Surefire unless you have far too much money on your hands. But if you want a light that will work every times, not matter what sort of abuse it takes then this is your weapon light.

Replacement weapon light. VERY bright
Got the Surefire M640-df Scout pro to replace my M952v-tn. The old light was a work horse for me but I wanted a platform with a smaller mount that would allow me to push it further forward on my rifle’s rail…plus the -640 is at least 10-12X as bright. The objective being to allow me to maintain control/grip of the quad rail in a thumb over fashion, and be able to activate the light at the same time. The -952 did not mount far enough forward which necessitated the use of a pressure pad.The -640 Scout Pro has options for various tail cap configurations, but I prefer the momentary/constant click button…it’s shrouded to resist accidental activation and it’s less to risk hanging up on a sling, vest rigging, etc. The light is stunningly bright for its size. It’s professes to produce 1500 lumens using the rechargeable 18650b battery. While I don’t have a meter, I believe it. It truly lights up a room. The beam is a good combination of throw and spill matching my needs well.I’ve only had it a week, but it has a robust feel about it and I’ve no doubt it’ll shrug off the knocks and dings it’ll be exposed to (it already has seen rough use during training). I have a few Surefire lights and while they are expensive, Surefire has stood behind them every time I’ve needed something. They don’t fail often, but Surefire has only ever been a phone call away, get an RMA and get your light fixed at no more than it costs to ship it.This is a good solid light that will serve you well if my experience with other Surefire weapon lights is any indicator.

Awesome light
This thing is sexy. Flush MLock Mount is awesome. The only thing I noticed right out of the box was the Mlock nuts were put on backwards. Make sure they are installed correctly so they spin and lock to the rail. Had the same issue with other Mlock products, but easily fixed.

Size
Okay, so I am sure that I am not the only one who was not sure of how big this is compared to the earlier model 600 series. For those who are thinking about buying but on the edge because you don't know how large this one is, I am here to tell you that it is practically the same size. I hesitated on buying because I thought for sure it would be much larger and I wanted to see one in person first, but I haven't seen any at stores and amazon had them available so I ordered on a whim. I was pleased to find that it is not a very large light, it is identical to the 600 model except the tube is about an eighth of an inch wider on the Duel Fuel Pro. Mine came scratched up and battery dead but I wasn't going to complain about it because it might have been sold to me from a return and my lights get banged up anyways, wasn't worth the hassle over dead battery. I hope y'all find this review helpful because none gave me a relation on size and I know people are probably wondering like me who have the earlier models.

Good for close to medium range.
I have had this on my rifle for a while now. It's on my Close Quarters rifle.Good spill and wide. Works great for home applications! For far-reaching lights, I would recommend mod-light since they have a more intense center but the spill is not as good as this Surefire M640.Find out what you will use the light for more than just how bright the center is.AMAZING PRODUCT!

Your typical Surefire light.
It’s bright, battle proven and will take a beating. You get what you pay for when it comes to Surefire. Although, there are other alternatives out there that are just as good for a little less.Modlite, Arisaka, Cloud Defensive and Streamlight come to mind. All good in my opinion.
