Like having a brand new mixer
I've had my Kitchenaid 550 Pro for a long time. It started slipping. I called around to find someone who could fix it. No one in my area. And I'm glad. Because I went on Youtube, looked up mixer repair. I bought this part plus the worm gear and the food grade grease and a gasket. $50 total. 3 days to get the parts.20-30 minutes repair time. Easy as breathing. Works like it's brand new.

Working well
My pro 600 chews up the worm follower gear constantly. I decided to replace this gear on the last fix. It fits correctly and is working good. I would not recommend the KitchenAid pro 600 to anyone. If you are looking at this gear then it is probably too late. Get an old kitchen aid or spend another $100 and get the 6500. It has a better and quieter motor and reviews do not indicate the same issues with the worm gear.

Cheap fix for expensive mixer
This is the second time I have had to replace this part on my KitchenAid stand mixer. Luckily, it's cheap (if bought here) and easy to install. I wish this gear hadn't worn out on me twice already, but it turns out, I wasn't using the mixer properly. I purchased a whole new mixer to use while waiting for this part to arrive, and the new one is labeled in many places stating that the dough hook should only be used on speed setting #2. I never recall seeing this on my older unit, so sometimes I ran it slower, sometimes faster. I called KitchenAid customer service, and they told me that running it faster or slower would damage the machine. Now that I know this, I hope I will never have to buy another of these gears again. P.S.,the new mixer is quieter and more powerful, so I'll be keeping it and giving the older freshly refurbished one to my daughter. FYI, the part number on this gear has been changed; the listing shows the new number, but the gear itself is stamped with the old number. Do not fret over this.

A Direct Swap-out for me
As I tell most people this worked well for me. And I'll tell you to be sure you order the correct parts. Watch YouTube if you are at all unsure of what you should do. This isn't a tough job if you have some mechanical skills. I replaced just about everything except the electric motor. The fix would have been less expensive if we would have checked the mixer sooner. However, it has never worked so well. Use the proper grease and use enough grease. Take your time and you can save money and have a mixer that will last years.

Perfect fit for my Kitchenaid Professional 600 series mixer
Perfect fit for my Kitchenaid Professional 600 series mixer. I'd replaced the follower gear before without replacing the worm gear and it wore out pretty quickly - so I recommend that you replace both gears.

Easy repair to KitchenAid stand mixer
The original gear on my KitchenAid stand mixer had a couple of teeth stripped from years of use (and abuse). After thinking I would need to purchase a new mixer at a substantial cost, I was delighted to find this gear was a perfect replacement to the original at a fraction of the cost of a new mixer.

Great Customer Service
When my kitchenaid broke I decided to fix it myself since kitchenaid aid pretty much told me "Sorry for your luck". They did offer to ship me a box to get my kitchenaid fixed, at my expense. So looking at the internet I found out the problem is common, a gear broke. Shopping around I found each part I needed and at best price. I received my part quickly and as scheduled. I had to contact customer service regarding this part and my situation was handled very much to my satisfaction and without having to go through a bunch of crap like you usually do, meaning my conversation with kitchenaid. I would definitely recommend Buy-it-now-store. You will need them if you own a kitchenaid.
