When I tell you these knives are worth the money and I feel like they’re way more expensive than the price I paid the value of these knives are great and a licensed certified chef and the way I was able to chop the chicken through the bone I love these knives I love them

This is my first review so i will be very direct and brief. First yes the case holds the items via velcro straps which can lead to them being cut if handled roughly. This is not an issue for me as these knifes are for home use, and i will be getting a magnetic knife holder. However individuals complain that the knifes are not sharp and that the straps are cut on delivery. That being said, sharp knifes will do what they are supposed to do!! Otherwise love the knifes/cleaver, in how they feel in my hands and the size of each. The most appealing feature about this set of knives is they are made of high carbon steel PLUS stainless. This gives the metal the advantage of holding a sharp edge for a longer period of time and looking great while doing it. This set is indeed beautiful and gleaming, but it's beauty can be deceptive. The balance on each knife is perfect. The fairly large cleaver included is also balanced well and looks great. It's actually the first cleaver I've used as much as I have. Very nice. In fact, the entire set looks great and functions as expected. Regardless of the task whether it's chopping or dicing veg's, milling a couple cloves of garlic or butchering a chicken or other meat product, the blades all perform perfectly while holding an edge time after time after time. Using the included steel will only prolong the edges of your blades, as well as utilizing the blade guards. The case in which they can be stored is clearly durable and quite convenient -- given the size of the set it's holding. I've learned which pieces I use most often and keep them in a cabinet drawer in front of my work table, each sheathed in their protective blade guards. The case will be perfect for transporting or long-term storage say, for a move for instance. But you'll find that you'll be using these knives every day. Literally! The case is beautiful, but not mandated. Except for the larger chef's knife which was significantly less sharp than the other blades -- and required greater attention to sharpening to produce the razor-sharp blade to which I'm accustomed -- all of the blades came with a very nice edge. I still worked each knife briefly on a sharpening stone to produce a fine, razored edge, however. It wasn't necessary, but since I just purchased them and was giving them their first good bath, I figured I'd hone 'em a bit. My only concern, and it's a small one, is that the logo of 'Ross Henery' has washed off of the blades I use most often. Odd. Very odd. This allowed me the thought that these knives may be knock-offs and not the real thing. I'm thinking the manufacturer of a knife as good as this would want its name to remain with its product for the lifetime of it. The disappearing brand name is the ONLY reason I've given the set 4 STARS. The blades work and they work well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for longevity, which shouldn't be an issue unless of course they are not the real deal -- and god only knows where that could lead!

I think this is a great knife set for the price. I bought these for $119 and it has all that I need as far as kitchen knives. The weight of them is great. They feel pretty heavy and balanced, as far as I could tell (I'm no professional chef, though). I've gotten complements on how great they look, too. I made the mistake of letting this sit in the dishwasher for hours after the cycle ended. The condensation that was left created small rust spots on them. I had run them through the dishwasher a number of times with no problem, but I was careful to dry them and put them away soon after the cycle ended. So, you definitely have to take care with these knives if you want to prevent rust. I did my research before I bought these, though, and found that it is a common problem with stainless steel knives, so I kind of expected that to happen. That's why I'm still rating them 5 stars. They look great, feel great, do the job well, and were a good price.

This is a very good set of knives packaged in an attractive case , making it a wonderful gift idea. The knives are good-looking, easy to hold, and sharp. I appreciate the knife sharpener piece that comes with the set. I used it on a few older knives of mine and it made them like new again. I do suggest that the knives be washed by hand and that they be dried right away. I am perfectly satisfied with the set. It's not easy to find a set that is relatively inexpensive that actually has sharp knives. A good addition to any kitchen.

My son is a professional butcher. I bought these for his birthday. I've NEVER EVER seen my son this happy! They are better, nicer, sharper, than the head butcher has at his store. As far as them rusting, no problems. Everyone knows that you have to dry your butcher/chef's knives after you wash them. They are razor sharp out of the package. I want a set, but am afraid might cut off another finger tip with these!

Despite some of the reviews for these knives I bought them, they were delivered well ahead of the expected delivery date, they were well packaged in a smart, zipped retainer, I was looking for some of the complaints that have been raised in other reviews, in my opinion the case it's self was fine, the zip worked well and yes there were a few lose ends of the cotton stitching, and there were a couple of the retaining straps that were broken - for 'broken' read CUT. The truth is the straps were cut by the knives that they were holding, yes they were that sharp, so can we put the packaging to bed now as that is not what I was interested in, I bought a set of knives! 9 individual working utensils each with their own use, well made and superbly balanced, each edge is triple hardened and trust me, you can tell the difference. The set comprises of, a general purpose knife, a carving knife and fork, a paring knife, a boning knife, a chefs knife, a bread knife, a clever and a steel, all the knives an amateur or professional could need. Having used them for a while now I feel confident and comfortable handling each knife, the cut is easy and effortless nothing seems to be a problem for the blades, the hardened edges retain their sharpness even when they hit my glass cutting board (many knives have been dulled by this). One major point is that the blades are solid, some so called professional knives on the market have holes on them or fancy designs, this is a food and germ trap, these solid blades are hygienic and easy to to clean and you can see they are clean, I feel this is very important. The clever is a delight to use, it fits the hand comfortably and works well at all angles, I have always used a clever on a regular basis but this on is exceptional, the only part of the set I have yet to use is the steel, I have had my steel for a number of years now, it does what I want and I have difficulty in using another one purely because I don't need to. In summary if you are looking for a professional quality set of every day kitchen knives then this set is hard to beat, I have seen chefs spend hundreds of pounds on a couple of knives that do not feel or cut any better than these, and at this price my opinion is they are a bargain.
