These are well made and easier to install than I would have thought. The plastic is sturdy enough to hold up to life in the ground and took a beating from a mallet when I installed it. The spikes do a great job of dissipating water down into the drip holes. I can send almost a full stream out of my house in a steady manner and it won't overflow.

I installed three of these in very rocky soil.The sturdy construction allowed me to pound the steak into the ground, most of the way without any damage to the stake, as it is made so sturdy . Very happy with my purchase. In fact, I ordered three more.

Great once in the ground
Where I live there are a lot of rocks and caliche soil which makes digging holes for these drips REALLY difficult and backbreaking work. Once done thought my trees thrive with the deeper watering. I do not have a "drip system" and place the hose nozzle centered so the drip flow of water will run down the non-hole side. With our 5-month summers with over 100 degrees daily, deep watering really makes a difference.

Just shove a hose down the stake. No drip system needed.
I was planning to use these with a regular hose and just set the water flow very low. To my surprise, the flow rate isn't important at all. The hose creates a weak seal inside the stake and the seal basically allows you to inject water into the soil like a syringe. I'm kind of shocked this wasn't the intentional design of the manufacturers.Also, I was mildly impressed that none of the stakes cracked from being driven into the ground.
