Big Enough for a Bed (Sesame Street) [Apple Jordan, John E. Barrett] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Big Enough for a Bed (Sesame Street) Review: Short and sweet, and gets the point across - With easy to relate to pictures of Elmo transitioning from being a baby asleep in his crib, to picking out his own set of sheets for his "big kids' bed" and then cuddling in with his favorite blankie and stuffed toy, this book was just the best for helping my 2 and a half year old sleep in her own bed. Since Elmo is her favorite, she likes to imitate him, so the first time we read this story together, she pointed to him sleeping in his own bed, then motioned for me to place her in hers! On the last page, she always whispers, "Good night, Elmo, I love you," which is how we always say goodnight. Though it has very few pages and simple one sentence text, not much more is needed at this age to engage your child's interest and get the message across in a way they can understand. Highly recommended. I also suggest TOO BIG FOR DIAPERS with Ernie as the star showing off his new potty training skills. Review: Great book, just not for my son - This is a great book to be able to talk to your toddler about a new bed. This book provides a visual aid for your little one so that its not just talking to him about it but showing him. Elmo is relatable to your little one and the words and pictures are to the point and easy for them to understand. Unfortunately this did not work for my son as he is pretty stubborn. We read the first page which states Elmo use to sleep in a crib, then the second page states that now he is a big boy he sleeps in a big boy bed which my son yelled "No!" and threw the book on the floor. I still think its a great book and am going to continue to try to coax him with it even though my son in particular didn't take to it immediately, but like I said he's pretty stubborn. I think its a case of the problem laying with the user and not the product so I still give it 5 stars.

Buy this book
When my two year old needed to switch from bed to crib after an escape attempt gone wrong, we used this book to prepare her. Together with waving goodbye to the crib as a family and reading this book it went very well.

Great for preparing little ones to transition to a new bed
I purchased this book to start reading to my son in advance of him moving from a crib to a toddler bed. The book is great except for the first page, that reads "cribs are for babies". I changed the words when I read it to say "babies sleep in cribs and then they grow into big kids and it's time for a new bed." It seemed strange to be essentially telling my son he is a baby because he is still in his crib. That aside, the rest of the book is perfect and seems to be really helping us get ready for the transition.

This book was magic for us
I read this book to my daughter every night before bed for 2 weeks before transitioning her from a crib to toddler bed. She related to Elmo, and I credit this book with making the switch to a big girl bed MUCH easier than I expected. I was so neverous, but the outcome was best case scenario for this first time mom. I have recommended this book specifically to a few friends. Get it!

Good supplement to a longer bedtime story.
A short and sweet board book. Not much of a story, and a lot shorter that my twins or I had anticipated, but it was Elmo, and most kids seem to connect to Elmo. I read my own story to this book, and provided additional explanations to create a full experience about moving to a big bed. I also read another book along with this book, and the kids seemed to connect to that story better, as it was about the whole transition, including no longer cosleeping with parents. This book would be a good supplement for a book that provides a little more of a story. My 2 1/2 year old twins love to listen to me read, and this book wasn't long enough, as they asked for 'more stories'.

Made my toddler's transition from crib to twin bed easy!
I started reading this book to my kid a couple of weeks before we made the transition. He got excited about picking out his sheets, just like Elmo. He also helped build the bed which was also helpful. But this book was awesome. Definitely recommend - no issues transitioning to big bed (except him falling out for a few nights ๐ )
