Gluten Free Pancake Mix

My baby couldn’t eat gluten and this was an excellent way for her to continue eating pancakes. The taste was great, and it also worked well with only adding water.

I love Bobs Red Mill products because the ingredients are healthy and they taste great. It takes no time to whip up a batch of pancakes and I like these because I have a dairy allergy and you can use water for these. I get the 4-pack because it’s the best value for the money.

I honestly like the pancakes from this mix more than traditional buttermilk pancakes made with wheat flour. The rice flour in this mix makes it possible to get crispy edges* on these pancakes that you could never get on buttermilk pancakes made with wheat flour. (Some people might not like that, but I sure do!!) It’s not just the crispy edges I like, but I also enjoy the overall flavor and feel of the subtly chewy, soft interior. (I use almond milk instead of cow’s milk with this mix and also use coconut, olive or avocado oil to add directly to the mix, and for cooking, rather than butter or ghee.) *Getting the crispy edges is not guaranteed. I use almond milk instead of cow’s milk with this mix and I use coconut oil for cooking instead of butter. I also add oil directly to the pancake mix instead of butter. For me to get the crispy edges, I have to preheat a heavy bottomed pan for about 5 minutes and be very generous with the coconut oil I fry the pancakes in. I’m probably also cooking my pancakes at just slightly higher temp than recommended, but I haven’t measured the pan surface temperature, so can’t say for sure on that.) If you’re going for crispy edges good luck!! It’s not super difficult, but may take you some practice and experimenting to achieve the coveted crispy edged pancakes I enjoy. :)

One of the best pancake/waffle mixes but I wish they would reduce the salt content by alot.

Tastes the same as regular pancake mix or regular baking mix like jiffy or bisquick. Cooks up the same too. Has the exact same texture. You cannot tell this is GF. You can use it for guests and they won't be the wiser. I cut the recipe in half and still used a whole egg and that was fine. If you like thick pancakes you'll want to use less liquid then what the directions call for. I like thin cakes so the directions are perfect as is for me. Pricey like most gf's are. Love it that we have gf alt's now that actually taste the same. It's sparing me terrible consequences. I will try G n G's baking mix next time due to the price but I don't know if it will be as good until I try it. In comparrison to most gf pancake mix's Bob's price is comparable and less than some. I am super happy with my purchase.

Makes the Best Gluten Free Waffles. You can not tell the difference between Non-Gluten free and these. I made these waffles Christmas morning with home made whip cream, fruit, bacon , sausage , and biscuits. All were eaten and more requested. This the best GF mix I have ever used. You should use this regardless if you are eating Gluten free or not. Bobs Red Mill products are clean so it gives me a lot of confidence when I use their products. I just ordered more.

I don't often write reviews but I must give this product a well deserved 5 star commendation. It is the simplest way to make real pancakes without any culinary skills. Just follow the instructions. Whether or not you are gluten intolerant or not, this mix makes perfect pancakes! They don't just look like an ad, but also the flavour and fluffy consistency are perfect! Personally, instead of vanilla I add a pinch of salt. It makes a nice contrast with the maple syrup. I use dark Syrup by the way. I threw all caution to the wind and had a stack of 4 small sized cakes with lashings of maple syrup running over the glossy butter... Well worth every calorie!
