Review: Great Vintage Sound on My Vintage Telecaster - These strings are wound with pure nickel. Nickel is less attracted to magnets than cobalt and steel. Since guitar pickups are magnetic, I assume this is why nickel wound strings offer a smoother vintage sound. I like the quality of these strings and the smoother sound they produce on my Telecaster, which I use for electric rhythm playing. They provide more comfort and better playability than steel or stainless steel strings, yet also provide clarity. I also like nickel plated steel strings, and cobalt strings for their feel and brighter sound, especially on my Stratocaster which is setup for playing leads. String preference is very subjective. I can say D’Addario makes very good affordable strings. These pure nickel wound strings work for me. They are very durable, offer very good playability, and most important they give me the sound I like on an electric guitar I use for chords and rhythm playing
Review: Excellent. - I normally use nickel wrapped EXLs or NYXLs on my electrics. I have a Telecaster that's always been a bit bright when using the nickel wraps, limiting the types of music I'd play on this guitar. These pure nickel strings have tamed much of the brightness and provided a fuller tone. I can still get the typical Telecaster twang, punchy mid-range, and sharp articulate cleans, but now I can also get some warm, full, rounded tones when I want to play jazz or blues on it. This guitar is simply more versatile with pure nickel strings versus nickel wrapped. For that, these strings are worth the extra buck or two over the EXLs. Since I liked the pure nickel so much on the Tele, I tried some on my ES-339. This guitar always sounded and played good with nickel wraps, but after playing pure nickels on it for a couple weeks, it sounds even better. I'll be using pure nickel strings on it from now on.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the Living Room to Legendary Irish Pubs (Mostly in My Imagination)

If these strings had passports, mine would be covered in stamps. They've survived imaginary pub sessions in Galway, midnight ballads in Dublin, rainy festivals in Scotland, coffee houses in Boston, and rowdy singalongs in Sydney - all while wrapped around my beloved Gretsch 6120 RHH. The tone? Warm enough to thaw an Irish winter, bright enough to cut through a room full of fiddles, and vintage enough to make old ghosts in tweed jackets nod their approval. My Gretsch absolutely loves them. Chords ring with that glorious "Great, now I have to play one more song..." sound, fingerpicking is rich and articulate, and they somehow make me believe I'm one sold-out show away from headlining a festival where everyone already knows the chorus. I've tried plenty of strings over the years, but these are the ones that make my 6120 sound like it has stories to tell - and possibly a few it shouldn't. If you play rockabilly, country, blues, jazz, folk, or if you're an Irish musician whose world tour currently consists of the living room, the garage, and the occasional backyard barbecue, do yourself a favor. Sláinte, D'Addario. You may not have written the songs, but you've certainly helped me convince the neighbors I did.
