If you are willing to pay a human wage price on certain Chinese products, the chances are you will receive a quality item. I am still pleased with the quality of this credenza. **Q: Is the color a true black or is it more of a dark espresso?** A: It is a true black. **Q: Does the middle shelf have glass/transparent shelf door or wooden(opaque) shelf door ? - asking as its not clear from the picture. thanks.** A: The shelves are wood but I'm not sure you are asking about the shelf are you? The center door is wood frame to match the side doors that have glass inserts. The center door has a black mesh insert that is hard to see through to the equipment but will allow remote signals to travel to your equipment. **Q: Would it be hard to replace the glass to make it child proof?** A: I suppose you could replace it with plexiglass but I really don't recommend this item if I knew what a pain it was to put it together I wouldn't have bought it. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Looks good and super sturdy *by I***1 on Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2015* The box came a bit beat up, even with the corner protectors. But luckily, nothing was damaged on the inside.The instructions are clear and easy to follow. As mentioned, it helps a lot to have 2 people for assembly.The quality is really good for a self-assembled piece of furniture. All the holes are pre-drilled and lined up perfectly. Once together, the credenza felt very heavy and solid. My 60" plasma went on top without any pissues. I did not detect any bending or bowing due to weight of TV. The middle door has mesh instead of glass. It looks to be removable. I wished they'd included a glass piece or something more solid to be used if you have a young infant or toddler around.One tip is to use velcro to attach the back cardboard piece instead of nailing it in place. This way, you can easily remove the back panel if you need access. Perhaps Techcraft/Amazon have been learning from previous experiences.Installation wasn't hard and I was able to put it together in ~2.5 hours on my own. The shipped package that the unit arrives in is quite heavy (~100 lbs). I opened it up in my foyer and took the pieces in. Certain individual pieces can be heavy too (~10-15 lbs). The assembly steps are ok; they just tell you how to the pieces connect together. However, as I was alone, some steps did require some creativity e.g. when I had to align to larger pieces to bolt them together, one had to be a few inches off the ground. I propped it up with some coffee table books. Such tips would be very useful in the assembly manual.Pros:- Good solid unit, with good finish.- The top surface doesn't scratch easily. That's important when you're placing/adjusting a large flat-screen TV on top of it. I do my assembly alone and can't lift the TV continuously. Its easier to shuffle it step by step on top. I haven't scratched the top-surface yet.- Spacious but not a huge unit.- I wanted a unit with doors to keep our baby away from the electronics :-). There aren't too many units in the market with doors. The doors do have tempered glass.Things to watch out for:- When you assemble the units, you need to attach thin vertical boards to the back which are black and mostly cover the wall or stuff behind. They do have holes to run cables from your components, but they are somewhat small. In my case, it wasn't possible to wire up my receiver through such small holes and I cut a wider opening. I guess the size of the holes are a trade-off; too large and one would be able to see the wall behind the unit on shelves that are empty. The board is thin and its easy to break sections off. But a cleaner/elegant solution for flexible hole sizing would be nice.- The unit is heavy, especially with all the components/TV in it.
