Marshall Uxbridge Home Voice Speaker with Amazon Alexa Built-In, Black

This is my second Marshall speaker. The first one I bought is a Stanmore II which I leave outside in a covered area YEAR ROUND WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. I was so amazed at the sound quality of the Stanmore II, I purchased this little guy for my kitchen after my Google speaker was having issues with connectivity and honestly poor sound quality. In short, I simply cannot comprehend how this little speaker sounds so amazing. I’m just as blown away with this one as my bigger Stanmore II. One thing that is important to me in replacing my Google speaker is the wifi connectivity and ability to access skills in Alexa which I use to control various devices in my house such as the Nest thermostats, 23 or so WIZ wifi lights, Jandy iAquaLink for the pool lights, pump, and pool/ spa heater and bubble blower. This little speaker works perfectly with all those skills and is so robust and quick that it impressed me as more responsive than the Google wifi speaker. So don’t worry, if you are looking for something that has great, deep, sound, works seamlessly with Alexa home integration, then this is a great choice! Another reason I bought this one is it seems to be the only Alexa enabled Marshall device offered. My Marshall Stanmore II I purchased in 2022 has wifi and Alexa connectivity but the newer models do not have this capability as far as the larger speakers being offered by Marshall.

I had a very specific set of requirements that were surprisingly challenging to find a solution for: I wanted a wifi (not bluetooth) speaker, it had to show up on Spotify connect, but I also really wanted it to show up as an airplay device, too. There is a very well known brand that ticks all those boxes, but it recently had a software meltdown and recent reviews are littered with terms like "expensive paperweight" so I was staying away from that. So far, the only negative thing I have to say about this speaker is that it isn't marketed in a way that made it clear that it fit my needs Perfectly. A few of the other reviews said there were issues with Alexa, Spotify or Airplay integration/functionality, but all 3 worked for me perfectly straight out of the box after like 10 minutes of setup. The sound is as good as you'd expect from a Marshall speaker and it looks great, too. I honestly couldn't be more pleased with this purchase so far!

I really wanted to love this speaker. In fact, I do love Marshall’s signature warm sound—there’s nothing like the way it flows through the rattan grill, giving music a depth and richness that colder speakers like the Amazon Echo just can’t match. But after nearly a year of use, I can’t ignore the serious technical failures that make this a deeply disappointing purchase. The biggest issue? After about an hour or two of streaming Spotify, the audio starts glitching badly. Sometimes it makes a scrambled, modem-like noise. Other times, the sound starts breaking apart into fragments, like it’s struggling to process the data stream. Clearly, there’s something wrong on the protocol side—this speaker is just terrible at handling Bluetooth streaming over time. Whatever the reason, it’s an absolute pain, and it ruins the listening experience. Marshall, I expected better. If there’s a fix, a firmware update, or a replacement unit that actually works, I’d love to hear it. But as it stands, I can’t recommend this speaker to anyone. I hope Marshall sees this and makes things right—because right now, this is a one-star experience.

My wife loves her music in the shower, so when her last speaker started to have issues she told me to start looking for something with an even bigger sound. The hunt didn't go far because I received one of those random email from Yahoo that stated something like "The 3 Best Devices on Amazon that you Absolutely Wouldn't Believe for less than $250" and in that article was an absolutely beautiful Marshall speaker. I've been around Marshall guitar amps for a long time, growing up around church musicians, and love their sound and clarity. I was hoping this speaker's sound would deliver on the Marshall name. My hopes were fulfilled. Not only was the speaker clear, it was incredibly loud for it's size. There is one flaw though Like several other reviewers I purchased this speaker thinking that it was a battery-powered Bluetooth speaker. I was WRONG! This speaker only works when plugged in. No matter how long you leave it plugged up, it will not work when unplugged. So when one reviewer said "I couldn’t get the battery to charge on this one...or the replacement Amazon sent out". I got tickled. It only took me 5 seconds to figure out why it wouldn’t turn on. I wish the description was clearer from the manufacturer and Amazon. I now have another wonderful speaker but will now be ordering the Marshall Stockwell or Emberton speaker. *Update 6/14/21* This speaker is a hit at work. Because of the nature of our work, we can't always reach over and change the song or turn the volume down. However, Alexa can! The built-in Alexa with the connection to Spotify and Amazon music is great! Everyone wants one now. The only problem is the fact it isn't wireless and the price.👍

I loved it, I got it at a fairly great price. The start sound of the speaker is Spanish, I am not able to change it to English, but doesn't matter, it works fine with my Spotify and that is all I wanted. I always wanted one marshall speaker, so I am very happy with my purchase :)

Perfect for my daughter. She can ask it to set alarms, play songs and for the weather. It's like Alexa but sounds amazing! Super cute. Great value and easy to set up. Can easily move from room to room and there are no issues with reconnecting. Wish it didn't have to be plugged in.

It sounds good and looks good, but some things about it are not great. The setup was not super simple. This was a gift for my wife and she couldn’t get it set up without my help. The Marshall app AND the Alexa App are both required, not optional. Just suck it up and do that. Alexa is actually linked through the Marshall App which was a little confusing because the setup didn’t happen for me seamlessly. I had issues with the Marshall app. Once everything was setup, we were very happy with the sound. And that this is a Bluetooth speaker/Alexa speaker hybrid is a huge plus. I always thought the Alexa smart speakers would be way more useful if they also had Bluetooth - so prayers answered here. A BIG downside I found is that the speaker doesn’t appear to be compatible with Apple Music through the Alexa part of the speaker and that is the service I have purchased for myself and share with my wife, mom, dad, and brother. I get that I can play it through my phone via Bluetooth - but for me, part of the charm of the Alexa speaker is to ask the thing to play whatever I want from across the room and for it to just work. So that feature won’t work for me. I may switch to Amazon music, but I am hesitant because I have built a massive collection throughout my whole life and it is all on Apple Music. Also, my car works way better with Apple Music. So, my only other option if I want that feature is to pay for both services which is annoying. I’d love to learn I’m wrong about this, but this seems to be the case. Finally, there is latency on the Bluetooth connection. When I connected it to my TV there is a noticeable lag between the lips moving on the screen and the sound. This could have/should have been an all in one solution for me, but it’s not perfect for my needs. Can we get some good firmware updates Marshall? Amazon - are you preventing the use of Apple Music? Come on! Marshall - Can we get this Bluetooth tightened up?

La calidad marshall de siempre, el sonido es excelente la tecnología super amigable, funciona con Alexa y suena bastante fuerte para su tamaño.
