I like the IMAK Arthritis (compression) glove better
I am a Nurse Ergonomist with 25 years of experience. I recently found an IMAK glove (mine is the one on the left in the first photo) at North Coast Medical, which I cut and pulled out the beads since you don't want pressure on your Carpal Tunnel. Your CT is partly in your palm so the pad filled with beads is not ideal. I really find the Arthritis (compression one) amazing. The SmartGlove with Thumb had a (softish so not metal at least) wrist bar I had to pullout (I want to be able to wear it while tying and using the mouse). Then your wrist is somewhat unsupported. I also think the thumb part is too long so goes to close to the top of your thumb and impedes thumb flexion movement. I really like mine for typing and mousing work, as I had a fall a few years ago and occasionally my De Quervain's tenosynovitis acts up. Definitely helped with my wrist pains.
I'm a computer science student, and one day of doing some homework I started getting a sharp pain going down my wrist a little ways, and I figured it was probably because I have been typing on a keyboard that sits fairly high from the keyboard tray it's on so I can't rest my wrists well. So I bought a Belkin Wave Rest Gel-Filled Cushion Wrist Pad -Black and this IMAK glove. I have noticed after a couple of days that the pain has gone away and I think it's mostly due to the thumb support in this glove keeping my thumb in a better position.I like how the glove is flexible, but I wish the support strip going along the top was just a little more stiff; it almost feels useless. The pocket of beads is a nice touch, it's comfortable and it doesn't get in the way like I was expecting it to. But, coupled with my gel wrist rest, it makes my hand sit too high off the keyboard to use while typing, but I don't think typing with this is the best idea because I found my thumb getting a little sore from fighting the thumb support over time. One of the biggest reasons I decided to get this glove is because it is reversible. I just pop the thumb support inside of the glove then reach inside the glove, grab the end, and pull it out the other side and it's done! I found you didn't have to take the wrist support strip out before doing, but might want to be careful with it!I definitely recommend this product, even if you're a doing a lot of typing. I mainly wear it when I'm sleeping, driving, or just not doing much around the house, and that seems to keep the pain away pretty well, even when typing and/or playing games for most of the day without it.

Probably useful for some but not me...
I was diagnosed with Dequervain's Tenosynovitis so I needed thumb support. I ordered this without understanding much about my condition. Well, free shipping takes a long time and I couldn't stand it anymore and went out and bought Mueller's Sports Medicine Reversible Thumb Stabilizer. It give me a lot of support all the way down to the wrist but felt bulky. I looked forward to receiving this glove as it seemed lightweight.Turns out, the glove has two small plastic-like supports the length of the thumb and a large padded support that runs down the back of the hand to the wrist. There are small openings near the thumb and wrist to remove the supports. The glove material is a nice and stretchy. The little bean back support below the palm didn't bother me in the least. Overall, very comfortable and lightweight. However... the supports failed for my situation.I found the thumb supports to be a moderately stiff but flexible plastic. It is way too flexible for my thumb. I rectified this by breaking two wooden popsicle sticks to size and stuffing them into the support slots. This helped keep my thumb immobilized. The wrist support kept my hand from back and forth motions but not side-to-side. Turns out, my pain is not at the bottom of my thumb but near the side of the wrist and a little up the arm. This glove has no support for side-to-side motion. I wore the glove to bed one night and woke up in intense pain as it was unable to keep my hand from flailing around.I do think the product is decently well made and will work for the situations it is suited to but it's not for me. I do sometimes use it while working on the computer where I can control my wrist movements.

great for repetitive hand motions
The wrist wrap I like best does not seem to be on the market anymore, and I love this Smart Glove--more comfortable than the brand on sale at the drugstore. Also, the ones I have now have metal supports that keep ripping through the fabric--I'm not sure why, but it has something to do with the fit, and the problem is actually worse on the newer models than the older models. Smartglove has no metal, and I think it will last a lot longer. Smartglove gave good wrist support, and also good thumb support without making the thumb totally immobile. It also seemed to breathe well, and did not seem to get sweaty as rapidly as some other hand supports. Please note that the advertisement makes it sound as if there are two gloves, but it's just one glove which is reversible (for either hand).I am giving it 4 stars because I don't know yet how often I will have to wash it, and if it will stretch out after washing it, but I really love it and am ordering three more of them! It feels great, and also looks a little nicer than some of the other clunky things I have used. I also can't give it 5 stars until I try it on a day where I am really using my thumbs like crazy all day--that will be the real test.

Not a jot of difference
Returned as this product did not make any difference. Unable to use on either hand either.

Not perfect but better than most
This is made for the right hand but can be turned inside out to fit the left hand which is fine as long as you don’t have a problem with your hands, I have arthritis so it was difficult to do thisThe thumb has a piece of plastic inside to support the thumb but the material is a bit loose on me so the thumb moves around too much but the base of my thumb is well supported and the material around the wrist is also supportiveNot perfect but better than most I’ve tried over the years

I have severe ostio-arthris in both hands and need major surgery so am in constant pain with limited use of my hands. The IMAK has helped support and ease the pain a bit. I would totally recommend it. The only negative is I could of done with a size extra small;which they don't seem to do, as I have little hands.
