Perfect for feeding wild birds.
I use this to feed the birds outside. Regular wild bird food is a waste because there's a lot of waste. It actually is cheaper than wild bird food and the birds eat it all. No waste

Excellent quality seed
I've fed my birds many seed brands but find this product to be excellent quality seed. I try to feed my parakeets the best seed I can find. I also add to their diet a vitamin supplement, chopped fresh fruits and vegetables. If you keep birds as pets you owe it to them to feed them a healthy and varied diet. I highly recommend this bird seed product.

Great Mix!!
I considered buying this seed mix because it has whole seeds, no pellets and no dyes. And on top of it, itโs at a good price. I feed this to my budgies both dry and sprouted and they eat it all!!! It didnโt come with mold, or moths and the bag was not puffed up which are all good signs!! I definitely recommend getting this seed mix instead of other mixes like Wild Harvest, Kaytee, Encore or Higgins. Just remember seeds should NOT be the only thing your budgies or other small birds eat. Like the bag says, feed a variety of leafy greens, herbs and veggies along with seeds so they get their nutrients.

Great price, NO poisonous colors or soy! And bird loves it.
No artificial colors or junk! I looked at a lot of different seed mixes for parakeets. Not the marketing hype, just straight to the ingredients. There are only a few that donโt have artificial colors, soybean and other fillers. This is the only one which is affordable in that bunch. I saw another brand who has organic seeds plus fruits and veggies. I saw that the same first ingredient is included in this seed mix, millet. But the seed is 1/5 the price. I will, of course, have to supplement with other foods like veggies and fruits to make up for the lack of in this mix. But I am very happy that there is only orange oil added with vitamins and nutrients. I donโt think the vitamins and nutrients are actually a benefit, but at least there is no poisonous colors or genetically modified soy or other harmful additives. I am happy with this for my lennie parakeet. And I just got it out of the bag and he went absolutely bonkers for it! I am very satisfied.

Good Seed - Almost Expired Freshness Date
My parakeets seem to like this seed so I have less waste. The only problem I have with this product was the expiration date which is May 2026. Since I didnโt receive it until the end of October 2025, that certainly isnโt a two year guaranteed freshness they talked about. The product has been sitting on the shelf somewhere for over a year and a half. I contacted the manufacturer and they just basically told me they wouldnโt do anything about it because I bought it from Amazon. Amazon wonโt do anything about it because itโs a food product and itโs non-returnable. I was truly expecting the manufacturer to stand behind their product. Very disappointing.

will buy again
I recently bought the Hagen Parakeet/Budgie Staple VME Seed for my birds, and Iโve been really happy with it. This premium blend seems to be wellโbalanced and fortified with nutrients, which makes me feel good about feeding it to my budgies. My birds eat it eagerly and seem healthy and active, which is exactly what you want in a staple seed mix. The quality feels good โ the seeds look fresh and not dusty or broken up like some other brands Iโve tried my birds really love it. Overall, this seed mix is a solid choice if youโre looking for something nutritious and reliable for your small birds. Iโd definitely recommend it

Was perfect for my female parakeet when she was nesting!
I bought this for my female parakeet when she was laying eggs. She wouldn't leave the nest so I put a bowl of them next to the opening. She would eat and go back to the eggs. I kept it filled for her until the babies were out of the nest.

I used to make juggle balls.
I used to make juggle balls. Good quantity of mixed seed thickness and weight ingredients made it ease to use to make some DIY juggle balls. The are safer to use because they don't bonce and break things in the house. Bird attraction to the seeds was high for the left overs I put outside (and a squirrel). So multipurpose.

Warning know what your bird can or cannot eat IMPORTANT google it.
Bird love it. Seam good quality even if i am a beginner at it. Remember your budgie perokeet needs a diet that should be balanced diet of 70% high-quality formulated pellets, 20% fresh vegetables and fruits, and a small amount of seeds or millet. Always provide clean, fresh water daily. Be sure to completely avoid toxic foods like avocado, chocolate, caffeine, and fruit seeds.Safe Foods for Parakeets 1. Pellets & Grains Formulated pellets should be the foundation of their diet to prevent nutritional deficiencies. Grains such as wheat, oats, and barley are nutritious options. 2. Vegetables & Leafy Greens Dark, leafy greens are highly recommended for essential vitamins: kale, spinach, and dandelion greens. Chop or shred: carrots, broccoli, and sweet potatoes. 3. Fruits Always wash and cut into bite-sized pieces. Remove all pits and seeds from fruits like apples and stone fruits. Favorite safe fruits include: bananas, mango, melons, and berries. 4. Occasional Treats Spray millet or a small amount of seed mix.Cooked beans (thoroughly soaked and boiled) or a small piece of a hard-boiled egg can be given occasionally for extra protein. 5. Toxic Foods to Strictly Avoid Avocado Chocolate, coffee, and caffeine Apple seeds, cherry, apricot, and peach pits/stones (they contain cyanide) Onions, garlic, and raw potatoes Dairy products (parakeets lack enzymes to digest lactose) avocado, and fruit seeds saliva (NEVER SHARE FOOD DIRECTLY FROM YOUR MOUTH)

Excellent buy for price
Excellent buy for price; this is top of the line bird food and I can tell my birds love it. They are super active, healthy and enjoy the variety. I don't think I will ever switch to another brand. Any bird owner knows their birds will always need bird food, that won't change. Have a piece of mind that there is food available for at least a year and it STILL works out to be cheaper than buying smaller bags.

Quality Budgie Seed
I wasn't sure which brand of seed to buy for my budgie, but I've always know about the good reputation of Hagen, so I decided to buy this brand when I saw it. I'm certainly glad that I did, because my budgie really seems to love this food, even preferring it over her budgie treats and millet; after reading the back of the bag I am not surprised! This food is full of absolutely everything that wild budgies seek out in the wild, and has the pleasant smell of oranges. My budgie seems happy and looks very healthy too - I am going to go out on a limb, and say that most budgies would enjoy eating this seed mix, and I highly recommend it - my budgie loves the seed, and I love the price and reasonable bag size!
