This was my first time purchasing this particular succulent-cactus potting mix and my second time purchasing the same company's gritty for cacti and succulents.I've used the potting mix for small and medum size cacti, euphorbia, and a couple of different varieties of aloe. I've found that the cacti and euphorbia responded relatively quickly, within three-four days, sprouting tiny, but happy new growth within ten days. These plants were already in great shape and very healthy, making part of the new growth an organic extension of what was already in process. However, the potting mix allows one to manage the plant's health and care for them more effectively and with greater confidence. The mix is also suitable for aloe, though perhaps for larger, denser stemmed aloe that are able to root quicker due to their size. Smaller aloe are harder to plant in the mix, only because their stems aren't as long as one might need to root them deeper. But small, medium, and larger sized aloe plants will be pleased to grow in this mix.The gritty, also purchased along with the potting mix, is of high quality, though last year's batch was/felt superior, or at least slightly different in consistency. Last year's gritty was pure gritty, gravelly. I loved it. This year's, or this most current batch, is gravelly with some dust. The company provides a powdered leaf mix along with this purchase to help roots to find traction on the gritty. I believe the manufacturer has altered the consistency based on consumer feedback that the drier gritty did not work for them. Regardless of my personal preference for last year's gritty, the current one has proved effective for my plants. The cacti and euphorbia (Opuntia monacantha, Euphorbia tirucalli, Euphorbia milii) have taken to it well. The Epiphyllum oxypetalum (Tan Hua/Queen of the Night) is still to respond, so perhans the aloe-cactus potting mix might be a better option for that plant. I don't know.It's important to bear in mind that the gritty and the succulent-cactus potting mix are useful and recommended if your plants live indoors or on exposed/semi-exposed balcony/deck. Mine do now. If your aloe and/or cacti live outdoors, with full exposure to the sun, you'd do better using a fairly standard non-clay based soil.I have now purchased the potting mix twice, and would purchase again. Same with the gritty. Purchased twice, and would purchase again.

I have waites for a month to write my review ,as I wanted to see the results.My repotted succulents were not doing well,however I waited . Finally when the cactus and some succulents looked shriveled,in spite of regular watering,I decided to check. The cactus mix was literally strangling the roots as the mix had hardened like cement around the roots!I had to change the soil completely.Real waste of money,time and maybe plants too if my cactus and succulents don’t survive.

Unsure about whether the potting soil is the correct one for succulents and cactii as there is very little perlite and more vermiculite. Also found some thermocol pieces in the mix, which is not good.Have not still used the mix, and will review again on how suitable it is for the use intended.

Im sure succulents will never die of overwatering in this mix. Did a lot of reaearch before buying and happy with this purchase

PERFECT SUCCULENT MIX

I had originally given this product a mediocre rating because it looked like ordinary sand. Since then I’ve realised that the sand like grains expand on wetting the plants. So....am happy! 😀 Got what I wanted. Product as promised.
