Amazing knife at an amazing price
Love this blade. Bought it as my "one knife" survival knife. The first time I chopped into wood I removed my hatchet from my pack. With the 1/4" thick 1095 carbon I will have all the splitting power I need in this knife. The Micatra scales have gotten many reviews saying that they were too sharp. I have calloused hands from being a professional carpenter and find them to be absolutely perfect. Maybe someone with softer hands would disagree but the Micatra handles on my Colt 45. handgun are far sharper. No gap at all between the scales and the metal. I added 550 P-cord to the lanyard hole for safety. The only complaint about the knife itself is that it comes fairly dull and with an uneven grind. I was prepared for this and spent an hour or so getting it razor sharp. It is tough. I was chopping on a log behind my house and hit a solid steel pipe buried in the ground. All it did was bend the blade. Smashed it back straight, ground and sharpened and it was back to perfect. The sheath is the major complaint everyone has with this knife. Everyone says it is loose and rattles. Maybe I just got a good sheath but my fits very snug with NO rattling and is so tight I can turn it upside down and swing it wildly without the knife budging. I removed the cheap shoestring lace and added more 550. I like the lil ferry rod and sharpener. The sharpener is not very effective for such a large knife but it beats the hell out of using a rock in an emergency. The rod and striker had a cord too small to allow u to actually make sparks so I cut it and added 1 more length of 550. I actually like the striker better than others I have that came with more expensive kits. Is the case cheap? Yea. Does it adequately handle the job? Yea. I can't really knock an amazing blade for a cheap case at such a low price point. All in all in overjoyed I bought this knife. I will be picking up another schrade for my EDC after using this.

Feel good in the hand
Decent quality for the money. Schrade has stepped up their game on their low to mid priced range knives. Feel good in the hand, appears to be solidly built, out of decent materials, and doesn't feel heavy, despite it's bulk, and does a good job chopping,(considering it's size) and solid enough to baton with, if that's your thing, and not so expensive that you will freak out should you manage to lose it, or damge it while batoning.(.I always have at least 2 blades on me when I go into the woods, and recommend everyone does so, even if their blade is an expensive top quality blade). The sheath isn't great, but it will do until I get a better one. I was a bit disappointed that the bade was not sharp out of the box, but not a deal killer, as most knives need at least a touch up anyways when first opened. I have come to expect that,os won't take away a star for that, yet I do appreciate it when I DO get one that is already sharp. The scales are decent. Look nice enough, and provides a good grip on the handle. It is comfortable for my medium to large hand. If you have been on the fence abut this one, I would say go ahead and buy. As long as you don;t mind having to put an edge on it yourself, it is well worth the price in my opinion.

Good inexpensive choice for multiple uses.
Customer service was first rate! There was a small problem with the handle scales on my original order (there was was a small gap between scale and tang where the blade. meets the handle). The replacement came within 2 days and no manufacturing issues. Returning the original wasn’t a problem at all.Came with a nylon sheath. The sheath has a Velcro belt loop which may be a problem with wearing out after longer use but is adjustable and easy to remove and transition it from carrying on your belt to hanging on your pack. The sheath has a small pouch attached that holds the fero rod and a cheaper type of diamond stone it came with. I removed the stone and added a moderate sized folding knife for more detailed tasks. The knife itself needed to be honed before using. The knife has held up well, holds a good edge and works good for processing fire wood, etc... feels comfortable in hand, and handle design is great.I like the larger blade since I hate carrying extra tools. With this knife, a folding saw and small folding knife for detail work I can do everything I need to. A good inexpensive choice. I’m happy with it.

Perfect Cosmetic Quality
I received the Schrade SCHF52M Frontier knife as a gift for Christmas, 2021. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but the knife shows NONE of the cosmetic quality defects other reviewers have mentioned. I first checked for gaps between the scales and the full tang, and there are none. The edges of the scales are smooth with no sharp edges. The gimping is comfortable and not abrasive. The very few cosmetic blemishes in the blade coating were so trivial they could be eliminated by rubbing with the pad of my thumb. The blade feels very sharp to the touch. If all SCHF52M knives are now of this cosmetic quality, then I'd say Schrade has listened to customer feedback and addressed quality concerns expressed by other Amazon buyers of this knife.

That's a knife!
When I first removed the blade from its scabbard, the first thing that popped in my head was the scene from the old Crocodile Dundee movie in which some hoodlums try intimidating him with a tiny switchblade but then run away in fear when he draws out his huge Bowie knife.I purchased this knife as I am starting to get into bushcraft and survivalism. I wanted something more suitable for tasks too small for an axe or saw but with a fixed blade and more durable than the smaller pocket knives I already have. This thing is a beast. The 7in blade is very stout and the spine incredibly thick. The Micarta handle is attractive and textured nicely for a secure grip both with and without gloves. Comes with a sharpening stone and ferro rod/striker, both of which are snugly kept in a separate pocket on the scabbard.I can't really find any fault with the product. I'm a big man who likes to carry big guns and big knives, so this beast is perfect for me. Those who are smaller and prefer gear that is small/light may want to steer away from this particular knife and go with a smaller blade.

Regular
