One year in: amazing protection, fits in a tiny backpack
This case is slightly more bulky than other zip-up laptop cases, but it fits in a small backpack (Fjallraven Kanken). It has a raincoat-like grid texture on the outside and closes up with both a ziploc-bag like closure and a very durable velcro fold-over. On the inside is a removable pouch with a satin-like outside and a foam filling that provides extra padding for your laptop. The case fits a 13-inch MacBook pro with plenty of room to spare and can also fit a very thick 15 inch Thinkpad t420 if you remove the foam liner.I've mostly kept it inside my backpack (which is thin canvas with no padding whatsoever) to protect it from myself, who occasionally flings it onto hard surfaces and car seats, walks around in heavy rain, drops it, and steps on it. I got it with my laptop and have been using/abusing it for around a year –– my laptop is in pristine condition and doesn't have a single scratch or dent on its aluminum casing. Granted I haven't attempted to immerse it in water so I have no idea if it's truly "100% Waterproof" but I have the feeling its contents would absolutely survive it as long as it was fully closed. Highly recommend.

Absolutely waterproof, only slightly impact-proof
First and foremost, I have no idea what size I have. Let me expand on that a bit, because it may actually help some people.Sizing:I ordered a 15", for my 15" 2017 MacBook Pro touchbar. I received a case with a tag that says "13" on it. It *does* fit my 15" 2017 MacBook Pro. It's right on the edge, but it fits in padded compartment, and the ziplock style waterproof seals seal just fine. So I'm not sure if it's a mislabled 15" or if it's a 13". I will say that any laptop even slightly larger would not fit in the one I have. So I'm inclined to think it's a 13", but can't be certain. However, this is actually a positive in my eyes. I have a Timbuk2 messenger bag designed for a 13" and my 2017 15" fits in it just fine. Since I'm kind a minimalist (and do a lot of cycling), I like having smaller bags that do what I need them to do and nothing more. It's also a plus when things fit in snugly, because it stops the weight shifting around. This is of course less of an issue with something like this, but in general I like my gadgets to fit with no breathing room.Waterproofing:After deciding that I was happy with the fit, I went on to test the waterproofing. I removed my laptop, and put paper towels in the case. I sealed the ziplock seals, folded over the velcro, and held it under a shower for a couple of minutes. The paper-towels came out unscathed.I put the paper towels back in, sealed the ziplocks, sealed the velcro, and starting running the bath. I held the case under the faucet while the bath ran, then submerged it completely (there was roughly 3" of water above the case). I pressed on, moved my hands around, creased it, and held it under for about 20 seconds. Again, the paper towels emerged unscathed. So I'm completely confident in it's weather protection.Durability/impact resistance:I actually got this to go inside an already waterproof pannier, so I can stop riding to work with a backpack. One of the reasons I picked this over the "dry bag" style competition, is the marginal amount of foam it has in it, to help with it getting bounced around in a bicycle pannier, and taking the potential fall on a wet path. You never know.I'm generally satisfied with the feel of the foam. I will say that I'm probably going to be a bit nervous if I take a spill. But for general shock protection (hitting potholes, having a bikelock in the bag with it, etc), I think it'll do just fine.If my primary concern was how it would hold up to big hits, I probably wouldn't get it. But my primary concern is waterproofing, and light/moderate impacts. I think for my use case, it's absolutely perfect and would recommend it.

Would also be great if the internal padding could be affixed in some ...
Very useful, very protective! I used it during a summer field season in Namibia, and to travel across Europe. It's a bit long, so the end has to be folded over to fit into most backpacks/knapsacks. Would also be great if the internal padding could be affixed in some way -- zipped in or out, perhaps -- because it has to be pulled out in order to get the laptop inside of it.

Two is one and one is none
With respect to waterproof gear bags, an old saying applies: 'Two is one and one is none'. These Aqua Quest laptop cases are good for what they are: a padded sleeve in a water resistant bag. If you really want to protect a laptop from submersion, two layers of protection is needed. At a minimum put this case in a pelican case or dry bag to be sure. What makes this case great on its own, is that it is the perfect accessory to carry a laptop in a backpack or other luggage without a padded compartment. I've used the 13" model and the 15" model and both worked well for keeping my MacBook Pros dry on a rainy day inside a backpack that was not waterproof. You've got 4 bills invested in that laptop, why not spend $30-40 on some protection from both mild shock and water?

I love it!
I love it !! Haven't given it the ultimate test of a dunking with my laptop inside; but I did submerge it in a sink full of water for a few minutes with a paper inside. Works as advertised. I now feel comfortable putting the laptop inside if I need to. Do pay attention to getting both zippers securely closed, listen for a "pop" or "snap", and make sure the Velcro is closed. If possible, I would recommend having a small dry cloth or towel around when you open the case after being in/under water. This just helps to wipe up the moisture/droplets that will collect on the lip of the case, outside of the zippers. The included padded sleeve is a nice addition; but can also be removed to make the waterproof case lighter and a much smaller package if desired. Just roll it up and put a rubber band around it.

Excellent bit of kit
Excellent bit of kit. I've not tested the waterproof, but from inspection it does look like it would be safe in my rucksack on a rainy day. The size is great too, the padding is slim, making it easy to slip into your bag, but is still more than enough to stop the laptop from getting damaged by something else in your bag. It's handy that I can also fit an A4 notepad and pens inside too.

5 star product and service
Super product, works brilliantly keeping both 13" MacBook Pro & iPad Air 2 dry in pannier whilst cycle touring.(Both fit in together with MacBook going inside the padded inner sleeve and the iPad sitting between the outer of the inner sleeve and the outer of the main case)Great product, great service & fast delivery - 5 stars!NB: The customer service with manufacturer (Aqua quest) was also 5 star, they answered all my questions about the product on live chat to ensure the product would meet my specific requirements, e.g. External dimension of the case would fit inside my pannier
