Rapala X-RAP Jointed Shad (XJS-13 Silver)
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE RAPALA X-RAP JOINTED SHAD! It is in My Top 10 Greatest Lures of ALL TIME… for me at least. Let me tell you why…The Rapala X-Rap’s (X-Rap Slashbait, X-Rap Magnums, X-Rap Jointed Shad, X-Rap Shad… did I name them all) are THE BEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL LURES TO COME FROM RAPALA! The Rapala X-Rap’s came out in 2005! -AND THEY LOOK THIS GOOD STILL! THE RAPALA X-RAP’S ARE LURES THAT WERE AND ARE STILL AHEAD OF THEIR TIME!And now, for why I LOVE the RAPALA X-RAP JOINTED SHAD! -PHENOMENAL LURE! They look ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! THE DETAILS ARE BEAUTIFUL CRYSTAL CLEAR 3D HOLOGRAPHIC JEWELS AND FISHING LURE GEMS!The Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad is a PERFECT LENGTH! At 5 1/4 inches it puts you in that… prey fish, shad / minnow length SWEET SPOT! Under 6 inches and over 4 inches. Fishing up here in the North where Northern Pike and Musky reign at The Top of The Food Chain in Freshwater; My Dad always told me: “When Fishing for Northern Pike and Musky, use 6 inch sucker minnows because they are not too big, but they are also not too small. So even if you don’t get the BIG Northern Pike or BIG Musky that day, the 6 inch length is still a good size for a Huge Largemouth Bass and / or BIG Walleye to swallow and eat.”I always remembered my Dad telling me that. So when I look for some lures for Bigger Bass, BIG Northern Pike, BIG Musky, and BIG Walleye (if I can ever catch them) I always try to make sure my lure size is around 6 inches and over 4-5 inches when targeting Larger BIG Freshwater Game Fish like: Northern Pike and Musky but still having the chance of catching a BIG Largemouth Bass and also BIG Walleye.Another thing I like about these Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad’s are THE COLORS! And the EXCELLENT COLOR SELECTION TO CHOOSE FROM! This time I bought the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad in the “Silver” color because it looks SO REAL to a natural minnow / shad! And I LOVE the Red color they add around the head of this lure to give it that “injured Bloody minnow / shad look.” I been trying to get my hands on this “Silver” color in Outdoor Sporting Stores but they didn’t have the “Silver” color in selection at the moment. I purchased a couple other items on Amazon and threw this in there and then used my $7.64 Amazon Gift Card (just covered the $6.99 Amazon shipping not really saving anything from MSRP on the products though). -ANYWAY… THE COLORS! All of the colors for the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad look FANTASTIC! I Love this lure SO MUCH that I have it in almost EVERY COLOR! I still have to get the rare colors for this lure. But the Basic Colors I have almost every color, I have: Silver, Hot Head, Silver Blue, Hot Steel, Yellow Perch, Gold, Perch, Clown, and probably some other colors I just can’t remember at the moment.Another thing I like about the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad is: THE WEIGHT! You can LAUNCH these lures FAR (depending on line weight and leader poundage if you’re running a leader)! These Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad lures come in one size (XJS-13) and they all weigh 46 grams or 1 5/8 ounces. Fishing up here in the North with BIG Aggressive Northern Pike and BIG POWERFUL, STRONG Musky… my setups are usually 7 to 9 foot Fiberglass Rod lengths, using anywhere between a 5000 to 8000 size spinning reel spooled up with line poundage in #30, #50, or #80 Braid. I usually use Sufix 832 Advanced Superline Braid or BERKLEY TRILENE BIG GAME BRAID with anywhere between a 12 to 18 inch leader (Steel Wire or Fluorocarbon Leader) in the #45 LB to #130 LB Range. On my 7 to 9 foot Fiberglass Rods using #30 LB Braid (Especially Sufix 832 Advanced Superline) THESE RAPALA X-RAP JOINTED SHADS FLY FAR! On #50 LB Braid they still fly far. And on #80 LB Braid you see the casting distance decrease.Next thing I like about the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad IS THE ACTION! Slow roll retrieve, pull and pause retrieve, quick pulls and pause retrieves, steady retrieve, or a burn retrieve… THEY ALL WORK VERY, VERY, VERY WELL! This lure stays stable and on track and wobbles like crazy to drive these fish absolutely nutz. Just buy it and use it in the water the next time you go fishing. The action is PHENOMENAL!The Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad is… This is one lure I can honestly say in my over 20 years of “wisely” fishing experience say… this lure does 98% percent of things EXCELLENTLY when out fishing. I have been “wisely” fishing since the age of 9. And I am over 30 now. This lure the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad is in My Top 5 Greatest Fishing Lures of All Time for me. This lure just does 98% percent of things well. Very easy to use too if you are a beginner! Just cast it out, and reel it in. Hang on to your rod too!Next is THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS LURE! It is very HARD PLASTIC! Able to withstand toothy Predator Game Fish in Freshwater and Saltwater. The split rings are big and solid. The hooks are Sticky Sharp, Big, Wide, and will hold onto your catch! They are VMC Black Nickle Hooks. I think / look like the 3/0 size (forgive me if I am wrong) but I think that is their size because the Rapala Super Shad uses the VMC Black Nickle Hooks in the 3/0 size and these hooks on the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad look almost exactly the same. Overall a VERY WELL BUILT LURE! And the finish is SPECTACULAR! This is a very Durable lure too. This Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad lure runs 4 to 8 feet deep. One little secret I want to share with you about this lure is that it slowly rises (faster or slower) depending on what pound braid (# Braid) you are using (Heavier Braid slower rise lighter Braid faster rise). -But, if you want to keep this lure down in the strike zone under the water run a heavier Fluorocarbon Leader on your main braid line and the heavier weight of the Fluorocarbon Leader will keep this lure down in the water in the strike zone. It all depends on the fishing situation you are trying to be successful in. If you need the lure to slowly rise to clear cover… set up your fishing setup to make this lure slow rise to clear cover (#30 braid or lighter with a lighter leader). If you need the lure to stay under the water and remain in the strike zone… set up your fishing setup to make this lure stay under the water and remain in the strike zone… use Heavier pound Braid mainline (#50 and Heavier) and Heavy pound Fluorocarbon Leader (#60 to #150 Fluorocarbon Leader). The fish I caught in the photos were all caught using the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad. The 41 inch Spotted Musky was caught on the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad in the “Hot Head” color. And the smaller Northern Pike was caught on the Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad in the “Silver Blue” color. This is a Great Fishing Lure. One of My Personal Favorites. It’s DEFINITELY IN MY TOP 10 LIST OF FISHING LURES. And it DEFINITELY MAKES MY TOP 5 FISHING LURES!I’ll post photos of the fish I catch with My NEW Rapala X-Rap Jointed Shad in the “Silver” color. Stand by… and stay tuned…

Fish Catching Machine
This lure is great for bass and pike, I have caught many fish, both big and small. I use a straight retrieve with an occasional pause or rip. It has great action and sound, it has metal balls inside. It's a large lure, I have been using it for musky but ended up catching other species, to my surprise. This is currently my favorite lure here in MInneapolis.

GO TO LURE!
This lure works extremely well with a slow to moderate steady retrieve! When the fish are tight lipped try a 3-5 second pause a couple times throughout your retrieve and hang on!The shipping was timely and the packaging was sufficient as usual from amazon, thank you!

Kingfish Buster
This is the best Lure that I have ever come across, the swiming action is perfect, and the shape is a good image of the offshore live bait, such as the flying fish and small Bonitos; I have to say that I have never caught so many Kings with any other lure than this in my 30 years of offshore fishing

Great action
Looks great in the water. It’s big, I haven’t caught anything with it yet but I think it’ll get a few musky.
